I had no trouble using my laptop for standard internet functions. I did have trouble using the Wifi to do FaceTime on my phone but I think that's a bit above and beyond normal hotel Wifi expectations.

Staying here now and it has improved under new management, but it still has its shortcomings...

Clientele here has become really dicey particularly on the weekends. While this has never been a great part of town, I don't remember the other guests being so Ramada'ish in the past...

While waiting to check in, two Otis employees (yes, as in the elevators) were in the lobby chatting with each other. One was asking the other if he would really be stuck here all week and the other was telling him how one elevator was in horrible condition with several failing parts and the other was barely in serviceable condition

I was upgraded to a suite on the third floor, which has definitely been upgraded since the last time that I stayed here (a couple of years ago), and seems to be in generally good condition, though there are still a few old relics left behind like the fridge, wet bar, and doors.

To answer the previous question about suites on higher floors, the third floor is the SPG floor and seems to be mainly suites, similar to the second floor, but higher floors (such as the sixth) are predominantly regular rooms with the only suites being the corner units.

Platinums receive both the points and a breakfast voucher and the staff is still a high point for this property.

Internet is much improved, though I had to do some behind the scenes work on my laptop to get it to be able to connect to the network despite not having issues in any of the other hotels I have stayed at recently.

I was told that extensive renovations will be coming soon to this property, which should help bring it completely up to par.

This property changed management literally one or two days after my previous post though it doesn't seem readily apparent.

I am staying here again as I type this, and things are generally still the same though both elevators work now.

Housekeeping still isn't completely on par as there is trash and a bottle of mouthwash underneath the sink/vanity and trash around the bed, but it is improving over previous visits.

Platinums are no longer offered a breakfast voucher here, though breakfast was a weak point even with the voucher under previous management.

Minus the upgrade (which is a high probability here anyways due to the high number of suites), there is absolutely no Platinum recognition anymore, not even a "thank you for being a Platinum member" chimed line at check-in.

My room smelled very heavily of pot when I checked in and since I am recovering from a sinus infection, I requested a different room. As I had booked late this afternoon (at which time all room types were available), I figured that I hadn't been allocated a prime room. Come to find out, the hotel is actually oversold by 13 () rooms tonight despite taking reservations as late as 6PM! As such, I decided to just stay in the pot reeking suite so as not to put further strain on the staff.

Staff, for the most part, still continue to be the only saving grace to this property.

I cancelled all my stays at this location for the rest of the year. I did the status challenge after 98 nights at Hilton properties in Charlotte, and thought this Four Points would be good location close to where work was. After a couple of weeks there, I cancelled the rest of the bookings and moved further out to the airport Sheraton.

Staff very nice here, but the rooms and building are very sub par. I could not recommend, especially at the elevated rates. 10-15 mins extra drive more than worth it.

I'm disappointed to see the last couple of posts as I enjoyed my stay here in May and this hotel is close to a lot of places I go to in Charlotte. I'll look elsewhere for future stays.

April 2018 stay

My stay (April 26) was pretty bad - suggesting nothing has changed:
- the pool was closed for the winter and the fitness area dated;
- Platinum recognition was non-existent;
- the shuttle took twice as long as indicated (45 versus 20 minutes).
Signs suggest a major renovation is planned - but no details available.

Really? that's weird you saw no evidence of updating.

There’s still nothing special about this hotel, but I have always been upgraded to a suite, as a plat. when I was there last weekend they had crews working on the outside of the building--windows in the bedroom were taped over from outside, I suspect so they could paint or stucco or whatever, with crews and construction noise during the day--and they were replacing all the AC Units on the second floor.

staff still lovely, maintenance still an issue. (sink didn't really drain, there was an ongoing issue with the front door lock. maintenance up to their eyeballs in AC changeover, and it was a one night stay, so i didn't push it.)

Stayed there last Friday. I had to negotiate for a suite at check in (the old "we're sold out" trick) but I did end up getting one. No issue getting breakfast for myself, my girlfriend and her child. Breakfast had scrambled eggs, sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, cereal, yogurt and pastries.

This is still one of the best deals near Charlotte, I got the night for $62. I'd also like to point out that the staff went above and beyond for me. I mentioned I was going to have a client meeting in the lobby at 7 PM and they offered me one of their meeting rooms.

So I'm back here for the first time in six months and while I'm usually happy with the place I'm going to now be adding it to my avoid list. I arrived at CLT at 10:30 PM and called to have the shuttle come get me. The agent who answered the phone told me "we can't send the shuttle right now, we're telling our guests to just take an Uber." When I pressed her on why she said "the driver didn't show up to work".

Furthermore, the hotel is currently being renovated and the entire bar and dining areas are closed off. This means breakfast is a "grab and go breakfast bag". I'll be seeing what that is in the morning and also trying to get my $19 Uber bill reimbursed.

Has this place place improved any? It looks pretty cheap for all those AA irrops, but even free isn't worth the last few posted experiences.

follow-up

So @ checkout last month, I asked for a bp for the GM. I e-mailed him about my experience. No reply. Re-sent. Still, no reply.
So I called him. The first call, I left a VM to call me back. No response. So I called again. This time, his mail box was full i.e. could not receive any more messages.
So I asked the FR Desk person to take a message? Again no response.
PM me if you want his coordinates? But I don't think its going to get any better.

all is well that ends well

One final update from me for 2019........
Marriott's social media specialist(s) came through for me. All is well that ends well.
BTW, I agree the location is ideal. Close to CLT, Costco and major highways. That's why I chose it in April.
I did not anticipate needing to rely on Marriott Int'l to make this one right.
