So that leaves the country without a property in the capital, and a single FP @Kecskemet..

That should not be possible. Would you be able to share the dates you have applied to our site that reveal availability?

After reading the previous post, I did check too half a day ago and it showed points availability for a good part of October. After reading your post, I rechecked spg.com and points redemption September 1st and onwards are now gone.

I had reservations for the end of November and I was able to get it for 7,000 starwood points a night. But now I see that they are no longer available for that date, so it seems it was a glitch and now it's fixed.

The hotel will be joining the Ritz-Carlton system by then but their official press release states that the renovation will only begin by the beginning of 2016 and wrap up in the second quarter of that year, so I'm not sure if they're sticking to that timeframe or bumping things up. I expected Le Méridien to stick around until the end of the year but they'll step out by next month, so who knows...

Best to contact the hotel in this case. So sad to see this beautiful property go but I'm glad I got a stay in this past June; I really hope Starwood is cooking up a return for the brand in Budapest. Perhaps a takeover of the Kempinski right next door or one of the hotels along the Danube is in order?

Here's what I got from the hotel on name change, timelines and existing reservations:

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and the Al Habtoor Group, owner of Le Méridien Budapest, have mutually agreed that the property will leave the Starwood portfolio by AUGUST 31, 2015.

Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and the Al Habtoor Group will ensure a smooth transition for guests, clients and partners of the property and agreed that all business and reservations confirmed will be honored by the new operator- The Ritz Carlton.

The official date of change is September 1st, 2015. The hotel won’t adopt the official name of The Ritz-Carlton, Budapest until the end of the renovation/enhancement which is targeted to be done by March 1st 2016.

During this period the hotel name will be the following:
Elizabeth Park Hotel, Budapest
A Ritz-Carlton Partner Hotel

Just received this email:

As a valued Starwood Preferred Guest member, we are writing to inform you of a change in the status of Le Méridien Budapest. As of September 1, 2015, the property will no longer be part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide or Le Meridien brand and will no longer participate in the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program. The new name of the hotel will be the Elizabeth Park Hotel.

We see you are currently holding a reservation, confirmation number XXXXXX arriving on Tuesday X September 2015 and departing on Saturday X September 2015 We are pleased to advise you that the hotel will honor your reservation and room rate as it was originally confirmed. However, since the hotel will no longer be affiliated with the Starwood system, you will not earn Starpoints for any eligible charges incurred, nor will you receive any of your Starwood Preferred Guest membership amenities or benefits. We realize this may be disappointing but hope we can count on your understanding.

Should you wish to connect with a member of our Customer Service Team you may email us at [email protected].

We appreciate your continued patronage of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and we apologize for this unforeseen change and any inconvenience it may cause for you. We look forward to welcoming you to a Starwood Preferred Guest participating property in the near future.

Got the same official depart email with honouring of reservation in October... so much for that. I liked this property. It was a good location for my yearly trips there.

Alas, I am now forced to go to my backup... Club Carlson here I come.

Officially gone: Le Méridien Budapest is off all Starwood sites and is now available as the Elizabeth Park Hotel, A Ritz-Carlton Partner Hotel, until the completion of renovation works in March 2016 when it becomes The Ritz-Carlton Budapest. New site here: http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Proper...st/Default.htm

Le Méridien Budapest, it's been an incredible fifteen years for you and you will be missed. I hope Starwood has the city on its radar and will make a comeback [preferably with Le Méridien, W or the Luxury Collection] sooner than later.

Yeah, shame I stayed last weekend and got a suite upgrade for the first time. Glad I got to experience a suite before it left SPG.

The budget and mid market is doing really well in Budapest at the moment (see Accor's portfolio) and I wish Starwood would find itself a property of some kind in the city.

Checked in yesterday and they have done a great job at removing all the SPG & Le Meridien branding. Had a bit of the problem with the reservation that was made with SPG but they figured it out. We called for turndown, and they said they did that last week when they were a SPG, but they are now only doing a once a day room cleaning. Lots of architects running around with plans for the renovation. Oh well, too bad I was a week too late to enjoy the Plat benefits here.

Slight concern about points reservation

I have a points reservation for mid- September that is being honored by the new property.
However I have made other plans and I now wish to cancel my reservation.
Unfortunately SPG cannot handle that ( ) and has suggested I call the property directly.
Since there is now a disconnect I am worried about having my points returned to my SPG account. that the rep would not make that call for me makes saying goodbye to SPG easier.
I might just keep the reservation anyway and cancel my others (Art Hotel)

What is the state of the hotel in general? Any sign of construction going on?
