Platinum Welcome amenity at Le Meridien hotels

Quick question re. the Platinum Welcome amenity at Le Meridien hotels...

Is it the same system as other Sheraton/Westin hotels etc. i.e. a card with the list of 4-5 options including 500 spg points in all regions (except EMEA where points are not offered)?

Or is it something else altogether....

According to the 2006 SPG Program Guide:

NAD: Choice of 500 Starpoints; beer & pretzels; a free movie; or a US$10 minibar/food and beverage credit.

LAD: Choice of 500 Starpoints; bottle of wine or cheese plate or assorted chocolates; or a hotel local amenity.

AP: Choice of 500 Starpoints; US$5 minibar/food and beverage credit; or local hotel amenity.

EAME: Choice of 500 Starpoints; bottle of wine (subject to local laws); US$10 minibar/food and beverage credit; bowl of whole fruit; or local hotel amenity.

By the way, 500 Starpoints is about to become an amenity choice for all of Starwood's branded properties that participate in SPG in the EAME Division - even at Four Points, apparently.

Sincerely,

Just checked- in at the LeMeridien Frankfurt:
to make it short: a quality of service I never experienced at any Starwood Property in Europe incl. the 500 pts welcome amenity.
On par with other quality chains and here I exclude all ArabellaSheraton hotels and esp. the Youth Hostels Frankfurt Congress!

Cheers,
CL

Oh my, that's excellent news!

And thanks for the prompt update William! ^

P.S.: Do you know when the 500 pts in the EMEA hotels becomes operational?

No, I just learned about it earlier today, but the EAME SPG Hotel Coordinator said she would keep me apprised.

I read Starwood Lurker's post to mean Europe, Africa, and Middle East hotels (including Four Points), in addition to the fact that it may not have rolled out yet.

In Pune I was presented with the standard AP Amenity card...but with Le Meridien in the brand listings on the back. ^

Plus as an unaccounced extra some nice chocolates turned up in my room last night.

Which is what you should get in AP and NAD.

By the way, there was a mistake in the new program guide. When the amenity of choice program is enhanced in EAME to include Starpoints as an option, all Four Points properties in that division will be offering 250 Starpoints like in all the other regions. My apologies for the error.

Sincerely,

BTW, the LM properties (at least in Germany) do not seem to be wired to the 500 points just yet.

I stayed in Frankfurt last month and my 500 points have yet to post... and tonight while checking in in Munich the agent advised me that that amenity choice was not yet available (she said for the entire chain—which would explain the Frankfurt missing points).

I actually have been a huge fan of the local specialty gifts . . . Sheraton CDG was a bottle of wine, Pulitzer in AMS was a blue delft set, Park Tower in London is a teddy bear.

FWIW, I got confirmation that the Starpoints as a Platinum welcome amenity of choice has rolled out as of today in all EAME SPG-participating properties.

250 Starpoints for Four Points properties and 500 for all others.
