If SPG wants to drive some revenue stays...let the 500 pt link go live. Interesting gimmick really when I look at my stay calandar...the last 500 pt incentive convinced me to lock in Starwood stays up to 8 months out but this year not so much.

This is interesting. Whenever the link is live I usually book as many dates as possible well into the future. Then I end up cancelling and rebooking most of them because I've found rates often drop for bookings made any more than about 8 weeks in advance (in Sydney anyway).
I'd rather a cheaper rate than the points but the bonus gets me to book Starwood initially and then I keep checking my bookings for rate changes but tend to stay with the same hotel choice. Never thought much about it before but I rarely end up with bonus bookings made many months before.
