JW Marriott Las Vegas [Master Thread]

I just went to one of my favorite LV area hotels the Regent... I have not been there for a couple months. Well now they have become a JW Marriott. Along with that I noticed that my favorite coffee shop was closed down, and had to eat at the crappy Irish Pub there after just flying there and being hungary. As a Regent I recieved great service, and free suite upgrades as a person who frequents Four Seasons and Regent hotels. Now as a Marriott I will get nothing as I do not stay at Marriotts.. Will this hotel ever be good or better than it was? I hope Marriott will keep it up to standards. The Regent was my favorite Summer LV resort. I do not want to have to resort to Strip properties durning summer because of a lack of service. Only good thing was I won some money there which was later lost on the strip. Hopefully I can rack up Marriott stays next year in LV.

This property has been troubled financially since it opened a couple of years ago.

Has anyone stayed here since the conversion to JW Marriott? Any comments? I'm thinking about staying here for a week in May.

Is this the old Regent on Lake Las Vegas? If it helps, Ritz is opening a property up there soon.

you are correct, it is off the Summerlin Parkway at the exit between Buffalo Drive and Town Center Drive

jja34-1, I think you are confusing this property with the Hyatt Lake Las Vegas, and yes they are buildinga Ritz there.
I was at the Regent about 2 weeks ago, and on a Sat. afternoon the place was empty!! If the casino had 25 people in it, it was crowded. I spoke to some of the staff who mentioned that promotion for the now JW Marriott, hadn't really begun yet. I had stayed there in its former Regent International status, and while a beautiful property, it never really seemed to attract the crowds--perhaps due to its distance from the Strip (about 20 min). It is also in a fairly residential area, where the locals seem to congregate at more 'downscale' spots--I think there's a Palace Casino next door that gets the local crowd.

JW Marriott Las Vegas

I had stayed here when it was the Regent, and have 2 sets of reservations for next month & Oct. As a lowly Silver, I had a rate of $113 and wanted to ensure a nice room/suite so I called their reservation desk and requested a change to a $206 Junior suite. The agent, told me not to bother as those suites faced the pool (I wanted a view of the red rock canyon), and since they were not anywhere near full-- she would put in a request for the best room available at my cheaper rate, which I should have no problem getting. Now, my question is that I remember this as being a very upscale Regent property, is Marriott having problems filling it up. (Yes, I know it is a 20 min drive from the Strip etc etc). But have things changed (for the worse) here since they took over, or is it just not a popular Marriott property?

We stayed there for a night in April and paid $129 and got upgraded to the Presidential Suite, with the double sixed jacuzzi, huge room, etc.

I don't travel to LV often but it seems to me that Marriott is having just as much trouble filling this property as the owners did when it was the Regent.

I was at the JW about three weeks ago for an informal meeting and also took the opportuntiy to have the Sales Manager show me the property - I'm a corporate trainer and schedule a lot of meetings.
In a word - desparation. They are struggling even more than when the property wen't bankrupt the last time. One morning for breakfast, I was the only table in the restaurant.
It is a beautiful property, especially if you like golf. Just be prepared to not see anyone for hours on end!
Good luck

Anyone know if there is a club level lounge at this property? I've got a stay coming up.

This property now goes for $99 with the rate code XXAN as per anAlaska Airlines promotion.

No way to book it online, though (no way to request the specific rate code -- the code it's too long if entered in the "Corporate/Promotional" box, and won't be accepted as a Group Code)
