Q. How does one qualify for "Preferred Plus" benefits?
A. By being the primary cardmember for a Starwood American Express card, or by becoming a member of AARP, AAA, or other marketing partner providing complimentary Preferred Plus status. (See, e.g., http://discounts.aarp.org/offer/inde...CategoryId/402)
Q. What are the published incremental benefits of Preferred Plus (i.e., beyond base SPG member benefits)?
A. The incremental benefits are
Q. Where can I find these benefits stated on the SPG website?
A. They can be viewed here: https://www.starwoodhotels.com/prefe...ybenefits.html -- Note: If you are not already logged in, you'll be sent to a login page. Once logged in, ignore where you are redirected to, and click the original link again to view your benefits.
Q. Where can I find a list of "resort and conference center hotels" on the SPG website?
A. You can't; it isn't there. However, one of the Starwood representatives has posted (and regularly updates) a list at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/18920557-post809.html.

Just got the SPG Amex several months ago. Didn't notice the Preferred Guest PLUS status on my account until a few days ago. My first stay after receiving the card back in Oct 2015 included an upgrade to lounge access at the Sheraton DFW. I'm guessing that was due to PLUS status. Got lucky first time out, I guess.
So, could be luck or could be functioning as designed, depending upon what version of the U.S. co-branded credit card you have.

I'm a bit confused by Preferred Plus. I've read the wiki about extended checkout and enhanced rooms, but spoke to three different SPG reps, and each said that preferred plus includes no additional benefits over Preferred, and that it is merely a designation to help them know the customer has a partner affiliation. Is there anything official that indicates those additional benefits?

Yeah. I log in and get redirected to a generic benefits page for Preferred Guest, not Preferred Plus. My account does show Preferred Plus.
Edit to add: Should I expect to see something different?

The main benefit of Preferred Plus is the 4pm late checkout.

When my travel declined a bit, I "fell" from gold to PP. At the-then Market Street Westin in SF, I worked my way to front desk at noon on a July 4th; the place was a mad house.
I was welcomed like an old friend and informed that check-in would be no problem as she "had spent the morning making room assignment for our elite guests" and my room on the SPG floor was indeed ready.
I wouldn't entirely discount Preferred Plus status.

UGH. The info used to be there, but SPG has now removed it. I'm going to flag this for the Lurkers.

Access to lounge for a Preferred Plus guest with SPG Amex Business
Would the access to Sheraton lounge benefit be extended to the holder of a Canadian SPG Amex Business card? I can't find any specific Starwood benefits apart from points and the 30k$-40k$ spending level benefits

I was Plus for years before I finally made Gold. Westin never gave me much love, but Sheratons almost always put me on the club level. A couple of times I was granted lounge access just for asking politely. So ya never know.

So not sure if I just did it wrong originally, or something changed, but the link in the wiki does work now. If you are not logged in, when you click the link you'll need to log in. Once logged in, ignore where you were re-directed to, and click the original link once again.
