How to Use Your Current Travel Package Certificate Prior to 8/18

On 8/18, our new Travel Package offering will launch along with our new loyalty program. After our loyalty programs become one, our new Travel Package award chart will go into effect and members will be able to book for packages at all 6,700 of our hotels.

If you currently have a Travel Package Certificate thats not yet attached to a hotel reservation, you have the following options:

- If you know when you want to travel, make a new reservation or attach your certificate to an existing one prior to August 18, 2018.

- If you are still trying to plan that perfect trip, you can hold onto the certificate and will be able to add it to a reservation starting September 18, 2018.

Please note that you will not be able to modify your certificate for an existing reservation or attach it to a new one between August 18 and September 18, 2018. Please plan accordingly.

Do not hesitate to reach out with questions. We look forward to making this transition as smooth as possible.

Kind regards,

Hi Starwood Lurker,

I currently have a travel package certificate expiring in early Sep (before Sep 18th) , I was hoping to wait and book a SPG hotel after the merger.
Can you please let me know in such case can you extend my certificate by some time?

Thanks,
Seandr

You could do that by announcing how the certificates will map to the new categories...

Now the Lurker is Alexandra B.
I guess William must have jumped out of a window when he heard this nonsense.

"Do not hesitate to reach out with questions"
Sure, you mean...
Call the phone that no one answers, or
Use the website that is broken, or
Speak with a customer service rep that has no idea what is going on

Look, you guys created this problem/frenzy by announcing a new TP redemption chart before shutting down sales of the current TP (should have been announced simultaneously). So, now you need to fix it by just converting all existing floaters to points and move on. Existing Certs that are attached and subsequently unattached can be refunded in points. End of story.

It still stated you can get up to 12K more miles while 10% of 100K is only 10K.... Or am I missing something here, if so, please clarify. Thanks.

Has it already been extended? In the past at least MR would often allow a one-time 1-year extension.

Hey there,

Is being able to cancel a 7 night Marriott reward for points official policy? Will you still be able to cancel post-merger?

Thanks!

It had, I called RitzCarlton last year to have it extended. I haven't got a chance to stay 7 nights so far.
Was planning to book a nearby SPG hotel or take 45K point if they allow.

Hi, Alex, Christina, Thyetus and William, - question for you.

I am about to buy a Travel Package Certificate, 200K Marriott points for 7 nights at category 1-5 properties plus 50K miles. No problem with the airline miles part of this, of course, they just go into my airline frequent flyer account. But I want to redeem the 7 nights at an SPG property which is currently category 4, but will be category 5 starting on August 18. Is that going to be possible?

I guess as a follow up to this question: will it be possible to upgrade/ downgrade these legacy certs post Sept 18th similar to how we can today?

There is an unintentional omission in your statement - let me fix it for you:

Let's not be rude to the SPG reps. They are posting an official comm. If they knew more, they'd answer like they have been been doing for years.
