Hi kaw753,

You may find the answer in below FAQ.

In August, when the programs come together, what will happen to any existing reservations I have at hotels in the Rewards or SPG portfolios?

All existing reservations are secure and there will be no changes or need to take any action. However, if you have accounts with Rewards and SPG that you choose to combine in August, you will be able to view and manage your existing reservations from that single account. For stays booked with points, if you modify your stay dates after August, you will be subject to the new Free Night Award Chart point values. Extending your stay or shifting your stay dates will result in a recalculation of points required for your reservation.

I thought I saw somewhere that the opposite side of this is that if the points required (after the one to three conversion) drops, you can call to request that the reservation be charged at the new price in points, regardless of whether the hotel has award availability at that time.

I' m curious how. you got such a low rate? I thought 95 points per night was the new normal?

This hotel is 40k per night, and least until August 1.

I am pretty sure it is locked in. If you have to change it post August 1, it would be at the new rate though.

Ummm.... what is "95 points per night"?

I assume this is the Marriott Wailea? Maybe better asked/answered on the Marriott forum than an SPG thread about buying points.

I've got ~220K MR, ~57K SPG. I'm thinking about that sale (that ends in 24Hrs) where 5K SPG is ~$114 (and 6K ~$137). I don't have any planned redemptions before 8/1, but 15K (or 18K, depending on what I hear here) MRs doesn't seem like a bad deal for the price, considering I couldn't get that many MR for a room at those rates.

But, I'd figure I'd check with you guys first to see if there's any cons to this I'm unaware of or forgetting about?
