Beginning January 29, 2018 you can earn Starpoints® on Hertz® rentals. Plus, SPG® Platinum members will be eligible for a Hertz status match, which includes car upgrades, bonus Hertz rewards points and more.
All SPG members can now access discounted rates and earn 200 Starpoints for their Hertz rentals. To earn Starpoints, SPG members must add their SPG account number to their car rental reservations for rentals picked up at any location. Or book at spg.com/hertz
The partnership also provides Hertz Elite Status to our most loyal SPG members, which includes car upgrades, expedited rental service and more.
· SPG Platinum members are eligible for Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® Five Star® status
· SPG Platinum members with ambassador service are eligible to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® President’s Circle® status and benefits.
Platinum members can register at spg.com/hertzmatch.
The Avis Budget Group & SPG partnership came to an end on December 31, 2017. Reservations booked prior to 11:59pm December 31, 2017 with scheduled vehicle pickup dates through March 30, 2018 will earn Starpoints. New reservations booked after December 31, 2017 will not earn Starpoints.

Wow, thats some bad math.
If you book with Marriot Rewards, there is an offer for 2.000 points (2-4 days) or 5.000 points (5+ days).
200 SPG points for all bookings, is only 600 Marriot Rewards points.
Rental rates are the same, so I'll book with my Marriot Rewards No for sure

I have President's Circle from DL DM status, which also has a partnership with both SPG. The three-way only gives me crossover benefits, namely earning miles for Starwood spend and Starpoints for DL spend.

Forgive my ignorance on this, but how is this SPG/Hertz partnership any different than the Marriott/Hertz partnership that was already available (other than the point per rental, as previously discussed)?
Previously (and still today):
SPG gold = Marriott gold = all the Hertz benefits you got from being Marriott gold.
SPG platinum = Marriott platinum = all the Hertz benefits you got from being Marriott platinum.
Point being, weren't all of these Hertz benefits already available through the Marriott status match?

Confirmed as one or the other:
Q: Can I earn Starpoints and Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points for the same rental?
A: No, members can earn either Starpoints or Hertz Gold Plus Rewards points for each rental. You can specify your preference at the time of rental or in your Hertz Gold Plus Rewards account profile.

SPG members can earn 200 SPG points on qualifying Hertz rentals.
BTW, CDP code is 154080 for "CDP MARRIOTT REWARDS & SPG" (formerly Marriot Rewards CDP).

Yeah this whole thing appears to be a zero. Many of us Plats have this Hertz status or higher already. And we either cannot or do not wish to use a different portal. And I guess we can't earn Hertz points and Starpoints it seems, eh? If it worked like the Uber credits, at least I'd get 200 points per rental, but it doesn't seem that way. I kind of doubt this will lead to much more business for Hertz.

How does one do this? I don't believe there is any field to enter an SPG number at hertz.com, right? Or any other booking site? So I guess it will always have to be retroactive. So how do we send retroactive requests to hertz.com?

But, if you should have to ask for a retro-credit, I was able to find this at hertz.com: https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/partn..._RewardsUS.jsp
I would just be sure to indicate Starwood Hotels as the program in the drop down menu and enter your SPG account number.
I hope this helps.

Thanks William. I do see now that I can change my rewards preference to Starwood in my Hertz profile. Note that I don't think I can make any changes at pickup because that is always done at curbside for Platinum. Plus I think Plat's get a multiplier for Hertz points so not sure it would make sense for me, but it could for someone else.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I have had both PC and 5 Star status at Hertz for many years (earned), and have come to the conclusion that they are completely worthless except for the points bonus, which is negligible. The upgrade process is not automatic, so you need to go to the counter every time to get an upgrade, and most of the time the employees are clueless about the program. Of all the loyalty programs I've participated in with status, this one is by far the worst (significantly worse than Le Club Accor for those who know that program).

I have the exact opposite experience. I always get an "upgrade" and have to go to the counter to get the car I originally reserved. At least my regular Hertz Local Edition knows to only give me what I reserved.
