2017 Q3/4 promotion speculation
It appears Marriott is having a new megabonus with registration on 9/7. Will there be a similar SPG megabonus?

I would be very happy for the current promo to continue. I've got an expensive four night stay midweek in October that would be quite lucrative. Every time I stay at an expensive resort hotel (Maldives, Naka Island etc.) there's either been no promo or the stay hasn't qualified :-( because it doesn't include a weekend day. It's deliberate persecution.

Over on Vielflieger.de there is some discussion about advanced warning going out from someone's ambassador stating that hotel hoppers can look forward to the next promotion.
The promotion should be labeled SPG Q4 Explore More.
1000 points per stay at St. Regis, The Luxury Collection, Le Méridien, Westin, Sheraton, Tribute Portfolio Hotels, and Design Hotels. 500 points for stays in Aloft, Element and Four Points Hotels.
W hotels seem to be absent from the list.
After 25 nights you get a 10,000 point bonus.
Registration starts 5 September.

Without wishing to second guess the OP (who could be anticipating a flash SPG September-only 'closing down sale' global promotion) or reigniting the debate about Quarters and Trimesters, we'll go for "Q3/4".

That would be fantastic for me, as I have 2 solid weeks of 1-nighters with a colleague who doesn't care for points!
On a more cautious note, I'm keeping realistic as a Sept 5 registration would mean we would have heard of it officially by now.

Unless you are doing one night stays, consider doing 1 revenue night with 1 reward night and create your own C&P. I find its almost always cheaper and your revenue night is eligible for promos.

Started with that idea, but the hotels' rates (2 nts Bristol, LM Vienna twice for 1 nt, 2 nts Westin Milan, 3 nts LM Rome,) are all better with C+P. I keep checking, but unfortunately at this point, leaving tomorrow, most of my dates are not even available, plus my SNA's at the Bristol for an Opera Suite and Westin for a Jr Suite cleared. Getting over 4 cents+ on the C+P rates (4.68 at Bristol, 4 at Westin,) and don't feel spending more than 2.2 cents per pt-the rate you can get points when they are on sale-is a good plan. Especially given the Euro's rise against the dollar.
