Award stays for SPG Platinums
Do all SPG Luxury Collection hotels provide complimentary breakfast to SPG Platinum guests, on award stays?

Yes. Doesn't matter if you're on a revenue or award stay. Some hotels make you give up your 500 pt amenity, others don't.

Wow.... I never knew this. Is this a brand commitment that is noted down somewhere, or accepted convention based on experience of plats on FT?

Breakfast is a Plat benefit. There is no resort exclusion as with Marriott Rewards.

SPG Plats may elect to choose continental breakfast as their platinum welcome amenity (in lieu of 500 Starpoints), and this applies to both revenue and award stays. Some properties may go over and above and give you full breakfast, and some may give you the 500 points and breakfast.

Europe tends to give full breakfast in exchange for the 500 points.
Asia tends to give full breakfast and the 500 points.

In the USA, to get both the points and breakfast, you almost always need to stay in a hotel with a lounge (or book a rate that includes breakfast).
