FAQs

SPG TAKE THREE PROMOTION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Registration: Starwood Preferred Guest® Members must register online between May 15, 2017, through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), August 30, 2017 (the "registration period") at spg.com/takethree. Registered members can earn bonus Starpoints® on eligible stays between May 27, 2017, through September 4, 2017 (the "earning period"), at participating hotels and resorts in the SPG® program.

Earning: Registered members will earn double Starpoints at participating hotels and resorts on eligible stays of two or more nights within the earning period. Registered members who earn double Starpoints will earn an additional two (2) Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of four [4] Starpoints per dollar). Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar eligible earnings are doubled. Registered members will earn triple Starpoints at participating hotels and resorts on eligible weekend stays of two or more nights within the earning period. Registered members who earn triple Starpoints will earn an additional four (4) Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent (for a total of six [6] Starpoints per dollar). Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled or tripled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar eligible earnings are doubled or tripled (collectively, the "promotion"). Offer is eligible with other Starpoints promotions; however, each offer will award bonus Starpoints independently of each other, and offers may not be combined.

Bonusing: The bonus Starpoints will post to the registered member's account within two [2] to four [4] weeks after the eligible stay posts.

Eligible stays and nights: An eligible stay is defined as one or more consecutive nights paying an eligible rate in the same hotel or resort, regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur, and posting to the registered member’s Starwood Preferred Guest account. An eligible night is defined as at least one night paying an eligible rate in the earning period. An eligible rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest program. A description of eligible stays and eligible rates can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions. See Section 2.1 for the complete definition of eligible rates. Note that certain prepaid room reservations — such as when the booking is made through a third party, including but not limited to travelocity.com, expedia.com, orbitz.com and delta.com — are not considered eligible rates and do not earn Starpoints or qualify for promotional earnings. Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. Stays will be processed for the promotion in the order they post to the registered member's account.

All promotions are subject to the Starwood Preferred Guest program terms and conditions, which are subject to change without notice and can be found at spg.com. Offer is applicable to individual members only and not to groups. Not responsible for omissions or typographical errors. SPG reserves the right to discontinue this promotion at any time, and the promotion is void where prohibited by law. When can I register for the promotion?

SPG Members can register May 15, 2017, through 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) August 30, 2017 (the “registration period”).

What are the dates during which I can earn bonus Starpoints®?

Each registered SPG Member can earn bonus Starpoints for eligible paid stays from May 27, 2017, through September 4, 2017 (the “earning period”).

Can anyone register for this promotion?

Any SPG Member can register at spg.com/takethree. A nonmember can join the SPG program and register simultaneously, also at spg.com/takethree.

Will eligible stays or nights prior to registration count toward my earning?

Yes, as long as the SPG Member registers by August 30, 2017, any eligible paid stays or nights from May 27, 2017, through September 4, 2017, will count toward earning.

How do I earn double Starpoints?

A registered SPG Member will earn double Starpoints if the eligible stay is two or more nights at any participating SPG hotel or resort during the earning period. The bonus may be earned an unlimited number of times during the earning period.

[Top]

How many Starpoints do I earn with double Starpoints?

With double Starpoints, an SPG Member will earn four (4) total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar eligible earnings are doubled. There is no limit to the number of total double bonus Starpoints a registered member can earn.

How do I earn triple Starpoints?

A registered member will earn triple Starpoints if the eligible stay is two or more nights and includes a Friday or Saturday night at participating hotels and resorts in the SPG program. For participating hotels in the Middle East, triple Starpoints will be awarded for eligible stays of two or more nights that include a Thursday or Friday night. Locations where triple Starpoints for eligible stays of two or more nights that include a Thursday or Friday night are: Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and United Arab Emirates. The bonus may be earned an unlimited number of times.

How many Starpoints do I earn with triple Starpoints?

With triple Starpoints, a registered member will earn six (6) total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. Elite-level extra Starpoints earnings and other bonuses will not be tripled. Only the base two-Starpoints-per-dollar earnings are tripled. There is no limit to the number of total triple bonus Starpoints a member can earn.

At which hotels and resorts am I eligible to earn double and triple Starpoints?

A registered member can earn double and triple Starpoints at any hotel or resort participating in the SPG Take Three promotion. Click hereto view the complete list of participating hotels and resorts.

What qualifies as an eligible paid stay for the double or triple Starpoints?

An eligible paid stay includes at least two consecutive nights at a participating SPG hotel or resort paying a qualifying rate that earns Starpoints as defined by the terms and conditions of the SPG program (spg.com/t&c).

[Top]

What qualifies as an eligible paid night?

An eligible paid night includes at least one night paying a qualifying rate at a hotel or resort participating in the SPG program during the earning period. Click here to view the complete list of hotels and resorts participating in the SPG Take Three promotion.

Can I book through a third party and earn bonus Starpoints?

Stays must be booked through any Starpoints-eligible channel, which includes a travel professional who books through those channels or the GDS. This is the only way to earn bonus Starpoints and get our best rates. Stays booked through prepaid, third-party channels — such as orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, delta.com, etc. — are not eligible Rate Plans, so the registered member will not earn bonus Starpoints and will not qualify for the promotion. A description of a Starpoints-eligible channel can be found at spg.com under the program terms and conditions, section 2.1.

If part of my stay was reserved using a Free Night Award or SPG® Cash & Points, will my stay qualify?

No. Stays booked with Free Night Awards or Cash & Points do not count as qualifying stays for this promotion. Even if part of the stay is reserved using an Award and part is paid, the registered member will not receive bonus Starpoints for any part of the stay.

If I check in before the earning period begins or check out after the earning period ends, but some of my stay is in the earning period, does my stay earn the bonus?

Yes, as long as one night of the eligible stay is within the earning period, bonus Starpoints will be earned (even if part of the stay falls outside the earning period).

When will double and triple Starpoints post to my account?

Double and triple Starpoints earned during this promotion will post to the registered member's account within two [2] to four [4] weeks of each eligible paid stay posting. Please note: Not all bonuses will post at the same time.

[Top]

Will I earn stay and night credits toward elite status?

A registered member will earn stay and night credits as he or she normally does while earning Starpoints.

Can I take advantage of other bonus promotions during this promotion?

Yes. However, each promotion earns bonuses independently of each other.

May 27 is the middle of the memorial day weekend. For those of us with a resort stay starting that Friday (May 26) and ending on Monday (May 29), the inevitable question: Does that count?

I found this in the FAQ for this offer:

If I check in before the earning period begins or check out after the earning period ends, but some of my stay is in the earning period, does my stay earn the bonus?

Yes, as long as one night of the eligible stay is within the earning period, bonus Starpoints will be earned (even if part of the stay falls outside the earning period).

Does this help?

I see at least 30 Design Hotels are participating according to SPG's participating hotel/resort site.

By the way, does anyone know which hotels "qualify" as a resort? The list doesn't show which...

Never mind, the hotel name does say "Resort" so I guess that's how it will count.

OK, how does this whole weekday/weekend thing work, anyway? If I stay in one property for three weeks, let's say, what am I looking at?
3 weeks include at least one weekend; so you get 3x points for the whole stay.

There is a link on your SPG Dashboard showing which properties qualify as a resort for the 1,500 point bonus. HOWEVER, the link is currently dead (was working previously) and you land on an OOPS Starwood page.

The link on the Starwood Dashboard showing the resorts that qualify for the 1,500 Starpoint bonus for having an SPG Amex card leads to a Starwood OOPS page. It was working previously, but not now.

Any idea what this extra 1500 Starpoints deal is?

YOU’RE REGISTERED FOR THE SPG TAKE THREE PROMOTION.

And because you have The Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express, you can earn an additional 1,500 Starpoints® per eligible resort stay between 5/27 and 9/4. Terms Apply.

William,

As a heads-up, I am also getting the CDb Exception off my emailed invite through two separate browsers (iPhone and Chrome on my PC)... SPGPROMOS gives it to, so something on the site is amiss...

Thanks!

Lurkers,

I have 3 occasions where I have multiple rooms booked. Do I only get the Take Three points for 1 of these rooms?

As long as one is successfully registered for this offer and meets the requirements of it, I don't see how it would be possible not to earn a bonus on all the eligible charges on your folio(s), no matter how the hotel chooses to post the multiple (up to three) rooms' charges to your account.

If the hotel posts each room as an individual stay, then you are going to earn on any eligible dollars reported on the folios for each room.

But, even if the hotel posts it as a single stay with the room charges for all the rooms included on one folio, you're still going to earn on any total eligible dollars reported.

I just want to make sure I'm understanding this right.

There is no "delayed start" on this promo as there is with marriott's? Meaning you earn double and triple points on your first stay?
