Had to make checkin person call SPG to confirm plat status (original reservation was done pre-plat). For some reason, checkin couldn't see our plat status (got it in dec).

View was nice but hotel needs renovation. Unfortunate since I like the location. Ended up moving to the Marriott after they wouldn't fix the drains. Service, an executive lounge and, most importantly, working drains made it worth the repacking.

Started off badly, but beautiful recovery by hotel
I called on the third day and they had a grand suite teady for us. Loved it, staff said they rarely give them as upgrades. Thanks Starwood!!

. no athenee suite available on my dates, so no complaint not getting one. imo, club lounge offering is slightly gone downhill. however, breakfast buffet is a bit better than it was in my last stay. service overall remains good.

Comments: I was going to just find a place to stay in NYC. W New York came to be one of the cheapest ones so I though I would give it a try. Booked cheapest rate (only $113) for Cozy room. Mentioned platinum upgrade at check in and the got a fantastic suite. The room was ok. Only has Queen bed, tiny bathroom without bathtub, which is kind of shabby for a suite at W.
