Upcoming SPG promo [for early 2017] ?
Have business trip planned for Asia early/mid Jan 2017 (10 nights), any knowledge/leaks of upcoming promotions? Always can use extra points/free nights.

I definitely don't recall any promos in recent years that have covered the first half of January, and I'm not even sure if any have covered the last half of the month either.

I honestly have yet to ever read a credible "leak" of a promotion on Flyertalk. But it's not hard to imagine that SPG will stick with double points, maybe extra for weekends. The question is whether there will be a gap between promos or whether the next one will start in January.
FWIW Hilton have extended their promo through January, so at the very least you might consider booking there until details of any SPG promo come out.

I expect promotion to start after Jan 13 as I have about 9 room nights booked between Jan 1-12.

IIRC some previous promos have started about January 8th or 9th.

I remember more than one occasion where enterprising FTers have stumbled upon and posted about SPG promo webpages that were 'accidently' put in the public domain in advance of the official promo announcement.
