Reservation made using starpoints not eligible for stay/night credit?

Hi all,

Not sure if something has changed recently, I had 2 nights stay in Westin Miyako Kyoto with starpoints (I called CS for redemption), and I am Platinum, last night I found that: I do not have any stay/night credit, AND I do not have the "500 point" welcome gift.

I feedback this by using SPG online form and got a such reply: "Please note that your reservation was made using Starpoints and that this is an ineligible rate for earning points and stay/night credits."

I remember that I was getting stay/night credit a few months ago by redeeming nights, when was this changed? I'm frustrated now because I will have only 49 qualifying nights/ 24 stays in this year.

I think this is another example of the CSR making up rules to fit the error and reducing their work load. Either push back with SPG or ask the Lurkers for assistance.

BTW, was there any mention of no credit when booking the rez?

One more note: In my SPG profile, the reservation for Westin Miyako Kyoto was disappeared, not showing in any of "upcoming" nor "past" stay, is point redemption now like this?

Nope, when I book my room, no one mentioned that this is not eligible for stay/night credit. The reason I called for redemption was all standard rooms were sold and I had to call CS to redeem 1 level higher room.

Nothing has changed that I am aware of. If you like, send the email string and the details to the email address below and we'll be glad to take a look.

The Miyako is wrong. You earn credits for Starpoints stays. Never fear, it will be fixed (via the Lurkers or phone).

Both C&P and Award stays and nights qualify as an eligible stay or nights toward earning elite levels and have done so since October 1, 2011.
