Check In

Check-in was fast even though there was a long line. The check-in staff offered us an upgrade to a room with an amazing ocean view, which we took. This part of the hotel had its own parking lot, which was never full and it was quite easy to find a parking spot.

Room

The room itself was big. It seemed a little bit dated, but very well maintained. The balcony was big, and the location was very quiet, although a bit far from the hotel facilities. 

Service

The service at this property, aside from the good check-in experience, was outrageous. We had a reservation at Teppanyaki Dan. We had an unexpected incident that prevented us from leaving the room on time, so we called to let them know we were arriving 10 minutes late as our room was far. We understand that it was our fault and that they had the right to cancel the reservation, however, the person who answered the phone at the restaurant yelled at me "SORRY, NO POSSIBILITY TO COME" in a very rude way. I spoke later on to a manager and while he explained to me the reasons why they could not accommodate us 10 minutes late (reasons that we completely understood, as this restaurant has a very different dynamic than the rest) he basically had a very rude attitude as well. 

- We went to the "Black Rock Lounge" as we saw advertised a late night party. Upon arrival, we had a bad experience with the staff at the entrance, who gave us a hard time because our IDs were not from the US.

- After we did our check-out, we stayed in the hotel premises as our flight did not depart until 7:00 pm. Upon going to our vehicle to re-arrange our luggage, we noticed that an item that was missing. We made sure we checked all our bags, but we were unable to find it. We informed the front desk about it, and they made a phone call to housekeeping, who said nothing was left in the room. After several calls to the property, and being told that the item was never found, we had to give up. When we arrived to our next destination, we unpacked everything and were unable to find it, so it was obviously left in the room and the staff was not proactive enough to help us find it.

Dining

We only tried the snack bar near the pool and both the burgers and the pulled pork sandwich were very good. The drinks were good as well.

Breakfast and snack at the lounge were also great, with plenty of choices.

Location

The hotel is in a great location. The beach is beautiful, and it's not far away from most attractions in Maui.

Overall

We enjoyed the beauty of the property and the amazing beach, and so we did with the food, but we left the hotel with a sour taste when it comes to customer service.
