SPG transfer to Alaska miles - middle initial have to match?

I would like to transfer SPG points to my Alaska account. But I just noticed that my Alaska account has my initial whereas my SPG account doesn't. Will this be a problem and cause the points to be in limbo?

Please help if you have any experience! Thank you!

I have a first, middle, and last name on my SPG account, but only middle (that's what I go by) and last on my AS account. Will this cause an issue with the SPG transfer? I don't want to change my AS or SPG accounts...already had to go through a long process to do it for the Marriott/SPG combo.

Just wondering how strict SPG and AS are with the names matching exactly if there are double names involved.

SPG is going to send the first and last name on your SPG account to Alaska Airlines. If this is not the same first and last name on your Alaska Airlines account, then I suspect there are going to be some issues on the Alaska end. It says this in the Terms and Conditions for transferring to Mileage Plan:

"Both the Starwood Preferred Guest and airline frequent flyer program accounts must have identical member names in order to complete this request; different names will cause the transfer to reject."

I initiated a transfer on 1/3 to Alaska Mileage plan. It has still not been deposited on my AS Mileage Plan account. It's now 4 days since I made the transfer request.

I checked my AS MP account and my middle name is listed on my dashboard at MP next to my first name. I didn't put my middle name in the SPG transfer. Would this be affecting the transfer. Who do I ring to sort this out. When I ring the international line I got a reservation agent who said she doesn't know anything about SPG points transfers. Please could someone provide an international AS number to ring to sort this out.

Transfers to Alaska Mileage Plan can take up to 20 business days to complete. If that amount of time passes, you should call in and request an airline transfer follow-up.

20 days is NOT the amount of time it has been taking to transfer points from SPG to Mileage Plan. All reports here are saying it is not more than 2-4 days for a transfer to happen. I will be ringing SPG well before 20 days.

Does Starwood attach the miles to a carrier pigeon and tell to fly all the way to Barrow? 20 days is a bit on a long side for 2017...

Nevertheless, that is the time frame referenced online in the T&C's for transferring to Alaska.

Totally unacceptable. I am getting no help from Starwood except for the company line that 'it can take up to two weeks - ring back then'. No one on these forums has mentioned that it takes two weeks. If you read this thread alone it's 2-3 days max for points to appear. My first transfer only took 2 days so I'm not sure why they think the second one is going to take 2 weeks.

I've logged a call with SPG that there is a problem potentially but they are just basically shrugging their shoulders and saying wait. I rang Mileage Plan and they have no record of the points coming over and say to ring SPG so it goes on like that. My advice is be very careful about buying SPG points to transfer to Alaska Mileage plan, if there is a possible problem -even if you think you did everything right-, no one is going to sort it out in a hurry or make enquiries for you until 2 weeks are up - by that time the flights you were looking at have probably disappeared.
