Got double elite qualifying offer which is ironic as i completed plat challenge 3 days ago...

miloworld Apr 5, 2016 6:07 pm

Got nothing.. haven't gotten anything for the past few member selects, wth?

dannybhoy Apr 5, 2016 6:09 pm

14 stays 27 nights YTD. Guess that's why I didn't get the targeted promo either.

Let’s keep a good thing going
ELITE STATUS — ON THE DOUBLE.

We want to ensure that you keep enjoying elite benefits, including Free Night Awards, Award Flights, late checkouts, welcome gifts, and more. So we’re bringing you a special offer to help you renew your SPG® elite status twice as fast.

It’s simple: Register by June 1, 2016, and you’ll earn double elite-qualifying credit on all your stays between April 1, 2016, and June 30, 2016 — with no earning limits. For example, if you have five eligible stays and 10 eligible nights during the promotion, SPG will credit you 10 stays and 20 nights toward elite status.
-----

According to the T&C:

The bonus elite qualifying nights that post to the member's account as result of the offer will not count toward SPG Lifetime™ status nights requirements. Members upgraded to elite status solely as a result of the bonus elite qualifying stays or nights posted will not have a year of elite status count toward SPG Lifetime qualification, unless the member achieves the typical required stays and nights needed for elite status.

I received the same offer and I don't see the value for me.

If I expect to earn SPG Plat in 2016 with 25 stays and 35 nights and I have 3 one night stays scheduled for the promo period my account will show 28 stays and 38 nights at year end.

If I reduce my 2016 Starwood stays to 22 - at year end I will still earn SPG Plat with this promo but the year will not count toward SPG Lifetime qualification.

I guess an example where the promo is beneficial would be people with 5 stays/5 nights booked for the promo period that expect to finish the year with 20 stays or 45 nights, the promo would give them SPG Plat or Plat 50.

Better than nothing, but I think I would have rather had a points offer.

Nothing for me

ChurchofTee Apr 5, 2016 8:40 pm

I got the 6k points per 6 stays, max @ 18k points.
I am Plat 75 from 2015 currently sitting at 11 stays & 25 nights. I would have loved the double elite qualifying...I wonder if they knew I got Hyatt Match and am about to shift some business there, esp with their new promo.

I need to decide if I want to hotel hop to take advantage of this quickly or do the Hyatt promo.

I wonder if this is also due to Marriott. I so hate to see you go SPG.

Glad to see the money spent with SPG as a Plat member is appreciated. Booked an upcoming stay with Marriott instead.

Although they'll soon be one company anyway, and I will probably book another upcoming stay with SPG in the next couple weeks, my revenge booking just proved that these stupid marketing decisions that leave some elite members out do in fact have a cost to SPG : )

Starwood Lurker - please forward on.

PLT 75 with 23 SPG nights to this date = Nothing for me:
"Unfortunately, you're not eligible for this promotion. Don't worry, there are still a lot of rewards to be earned. Visit your SPG Dashboard to get the inside scoop on our latest special offers and promotions."

- Sure, there are still a lot of rewards to be earned in HHonors program! Back to working on re-qualifying for HHonors Diamond status for now.

PayItForward Apr 5, 2016 9:09 pm

every 2 stays > 2,000 points
Max 6,000 points.

BrianLo Apr 5, 2016 9:38 pm

Plat 50, never been targeted for these offers before, have 8 stays 10 nights YTD, last stay in Feb.

Got the double elite qualifying nights... which is amazing as I had pretty much given up on getting Plat 50 and was maybe going to pull off the Plat 25 this year. I had 15 nights already booked during the period and literally was booking an additional 2 when the e-mail offer came in.

They definitely incentivized some business out of me.

alanslegal Apr 5, 2016 9:44 pm

Plat 50 here with 3 stays / 11 nights YTD ... would have helped with a promo this quarter but not to worry as I don't have many stays this quarter anyway. A 3rd quarter promo would be nice as I will be doing a bit of travel in that period.

BenSenise Apr 5, 2016 10:04 pm

i got this (haven't had that many stays this year):
First stay earns 1,500 Starpoints + Second stay earns 2,500 Starpoints + Third stay earns 3,500 Starpoints = Maximum bonus 7,500 Starpoints

not bad. maybe i'll have to book something!

I'm at 10 stays 22 nights YTD with 7 more nights confirm for this month. I got lucky on this one.

I have 5 stays and 9 nights year to date as a Plat. I got the double elite qualifying night award. . .

Funny that it only counts after you register, and they sent it out on April 4, despite the qualifying period starting on April 1.

Canada101 Apr 5, 2016 11:20 pm

Nothing for me.

Plat 100 (for third year in a row)
9 years Elite of which 8 are Plat
12 stays/35 nights YTD
Will make Plat with 50 nights by May with the bulk of my travel in the third/fourth quarters so I will make 100 nights for sure

I am an SPG loyalist for sure but it sure would be nice to get some recognition in return. I haven't been eligible for a targeted promo in several years (I don't actually recall being eligible for one in recent memory).

Similar comments from Plats have been made before whenever these targeted promos come out and while Lurkers have seen them, nothing has ever been done. My sense is the marketing folks at Starwood know that the untargeted customers are beholden to Starwood so don't need any recognition.

xflim Apr 5, 2016 11:46 pm

My offer is bonus 10N credit for 2 stay during the period.

I would rather prefer bonus points or free nights instead but still better than nothing.
