It was my understanding the drinks were the alternative amenity to compensate for the resort fee that includes Wi-Fi that’s already free for Platinums.
Yes, I got the drink vouchers, and my 1K bonus points posted a day after the rest of my stay points did.

On the other hand, I failed to realize before making my booking that this SLS is not participating in the current double points promotion. As it happens the 1K was more bonus points than I would have gotten from double points anyway, but worth considering for anyone else looking to book here soon. The W is participating, by contrast.

Well, you will see back on January 01 I booked a great rate. I was under the assumption it was a New Years Day Sale as it was up on the website all day. Today - 2 months after the reservation I receive an email saying it was an error - that they already adjusted my rate and also made sure to note that the resort fee is extra.... and hope to see me at the end of April..........sorry for the error. That is it.
It's not the price whatsoever, it becomes the principle now for me from a customer service standpoint. I would have had much more respect if there was communication with me first about the error and what I would like to do? Hey, I still have a cheap rate as they said that they gave me 40% off of whatever rate it is they are quoting? They could quote anything.
I did send an email back stating my disappointment that after 2 months............... I did ask for them to reconsider any type of customer service gesture such as removing the resort fees

This is my first time staying here so am very curious as to how there customer service will stand up to other properties when it comes to things like this?

Hmm, how good was the rate and what did they give you now? If the rate was $2 I think they can legitimately say it was obviously an error, but I got an email yesterday informing me of a 7-day sale on at the moment with rates from $41 (I see $69 for the last couple of days of April).

The rate was awesome - $16.00....it was on for the whole day - It looked like a New Years Day Sale?. Here is the thing, I thought it was awesome but I honestly didn't think it was an error because sometimes this place has practically given away rooms?

Again, not complaining as I am still getting it for $37.00 + $32.00 resort fee..............I just didn't like the way it was handled. It was my first time trying this hotel out as I have been staying at the Westin at least 3 X year for the past 8 years or so.

As I am writing this I just realized in my email to them I asked them to consider removing the resort fees as a customer service gesture......LOL. Not thinking obviously on my part - - I would then be getting it even cheaper from my original reservation! Yikes, they must think mighty fine of me now! It would be nice for them to say, hey we will guarantee you a Plat upgrade to a suite!

First impressions are everything

If you're worried they might think you were asking for too much to have a lower rate than before, you should definitely now write them back and say that you want a suite for $37 a night. That will fix everything

I had a gorgeous suite there on a $32 BRG. And they forgot to charge me the resort fee on one of my 2 nights.

That's less than one of the white cocktails at Foxtail

Wow!! Received a fantastic email from the SLS today agreeing to my request while providing a folio showing the adjusted rate with the resort fees removed for my records. Because of my request, (of which I totally understand the receiver would be thinking that this guy is trying to get it even cheaper), the communication from them was outstanding from a customer service perspective. It honestly made me feel like a valued customer regardless of rate. I was totally surprised as they could have responded the exact opposite.............I am excited to try this place out and give them my business. Maybe this place will become my new Vegas home rather than the Westin (I feel the Westin has really been dropping the ball on the SPG loyalty part let alone their customer service lately).

On a side not, I did respond to the SLS email explaining my request and apologized for it. I couldn't bare not mentioning it - it actually bothered me to think "how greedy is this guy!". Totally was not intentional whatsoever - I zipped a quick email back and it seems asking to remove the resort fees is the first thing that comes to mind........but I didn't think about it or do any quick math realizing the request!

Anyway, I am honestly looking forward to visiting the SLS....funny how things work sometimes?

Good for you! We enjoyed our 2 stays there (for one night only) - it's a very strange, unique place, and we actually got rooms in their 2 "worst" towers, but it was fun, we liked the restaurants, we won in the casino...and then we moved to more "normal" accommodations in the more "normal" part of the Strip.

But you definitely get the Squeaky Wheel Award!"

One night stay on business. I usually just stay at whatever SPG is cheapest. Usually it's the Westin, which is fine, but this time it was the SLS. I've stayed at the W before, and I got confused -- I thought the W was the SLS and vice versa so I definitely was a little confused about where to check in but I figured it out.

I was put in the Story tower. I cannot really fathom there is a group of humans who likes this kind of room. It was one of the least functional rooms I've stayed in. You have to move a big heavy door to get into the bathroom and when you do so it covers up the sink. So, if you have to go to the bathroom at night, you end up opening the door and then having to close it to wash your hands in the dark. I guess the hotel is marketed to Millennial, and since they don't have to get up in the night maybe they don't care. (You will, Millennials, you will!) The room size was about the same as a generous storage space, made worse by putting the bed in the middle of the room. The bed is on a white light up plastic frame, which is unfortunate because when the light is on it shows every scratch and bit of dirt on the frame. But the real problem is the gap between the platform and the top of the bed, which is an arm catcher. My view as of the stratosphere and some industrial looking air conditioning equipment. I got in late and ate the mini-bar popcorn for dinner. It was good. On check out I asked to have it put on the bill so I could include it when I submit my expense report and the guy gave it to me for free, and he was otherwise a really nice guy. I liked that. The coffee shop people who made me a mocha were also really nice.

The room décor was that exposed industrial thing. There was a mirror on the ceiling and the ceilings were not all that high, so it was a bit disconcerting while I was reading in bed before going to sleep.

The sink soap was a "grapefruit bergamot" "Artisan Massage Bar." That's not a joke. I know it sounds like one.

For one night on business, I'd prefer a more functional room and clearly this room was a bit too funky for me. Location good. Staff good. Internet fast. Vegas. What can you say?

Wow! Somebody posted a video of that room type 1-2 yrs ago, and it looked atrocious. I can't believe that as a Platinum, that is the best they could do for you.

I've dropped down to gold. I have to change my profile. It was definitely a function after form room, and not the other way around. The woman who checked me in was kind of classic Las Vegas. Very pretty, didn't want to be there, probably has other jobs, couldn't bothered, and so I just wanted to get to my room and get to sleep, so upgrades were not on the table. I mean, not rude or anything, but that sort of Vegas too-hip that I don't instinctively react well to and just want to get away from. It's hard for me to imagine the sensibility that would like this kind of room but in the end, I tell myself it's not meant for me. I got my stay credit. Fast internet. Hopefully can get back to plat. Drank the "free" water that came with my $32 resort fee and it was delicious!

As well as access to all the SLS facilities (I'm fond of Foxtail in season).

How does it work? Do I ask at SLS checkin to Upgrade to W?

That was perhaps an in-specific use of the term "upgrade". What I meant was that I suggest people pay a bit extra and book the W instead of the SLS when the prices are similar.
