So, if you book 2 rooms in 1 hotel, then you will get points/stay credit for each of the rooms. However, if you book 2 rooms in 2 different hotels, then you will get points/stay credit for only one???

Also, what if one of the stays are C&P and the other one is paid? (at two different hotels). Which one will count for points/stay credit?

Correct

Excellent question; I don't know how they calculate which you get credit for and which you don't. To ensure you get proper credit I'd remove my SPG # from the reservation that would be less beneficial (C&P as you don't earn points on the cash portion of the C&P stay)

the lurkers have clarified this a number of times but if i were to sum it up then you are opening your account up for scrutiny by booking at 2 different hotels on the same night....a lot of people do this so that their friends & family members can get the benefits at the property for the second room....its definitely frowned upon by spg....

either one of the stays can count for the points & stay credit....& you won't be able to get the other one to count since you are not supposed to be staying in 2 different hotels on the same night....

I would say that it depends upon the circumstances.

If one is booking more than one C&P or award booking and the other two rooms are for family, then yes.

If one is gifting these C&P or award bookings for anyone else, then no. Gifted award stays belong to the guest in the room, not to the member who booked them.

Hotel says: You cannot stay in more than one room

I had recently a situation where I booked three rooms. I informed the hotel about the persons actually staying in rooms 2 and 3 by having the hotel to add those persons as a 2nd guest, i.e. I was the main guest for all three rooms but buddy B was actually sleeping in room 2 and buddy C was actually sleeping in room 3.

The hotel did not want to accept this with the argument "you cannot stay in more than one room". I eventually got the night credit for all three rooms but it was an unpleasant situation.

Out of curiosity, did you guys have similar situations?

What's the difference between family & gifted guests? How do I prove we're family if we have different last names? Does gifted award means 'booker' (person who book the rooms) are not physically there during checkin?

I'm thinking about mattress run, and I need to be sure I'm getting 2 stays for 2 rooms.

If you are staying in one of the rooms yourself, I think it is assumed that the other room is either for friends or family and you will get the credit. If you aren't staying, however, then the person to whom the stay was gifted gets the stay/night credit.

Can one book 2 C&P rooms for the same night? Sheraton.com seems to suggest that I can only book 1 C&P.
What about 1 C&P and 1 award? Will it count for 2 stays?

Even if it doesn't accept booking the 2 rooms in one go, you can book each one separately and it will work.

Correct. SPG doesn't allow awards or c and p reservations for more than 1 room at a time. Multiple reservations are needed.

China hotels refuses to credit multiple rooms stays/nights

Because China hotels need to file one identification per room, they refuse to put the same name on multiple rooms, and hence no credit. This has happened to me twice, without being aware of it the first time. In both cases, both rooms were booked on the same name, but upon checking in, the second room name was changed to the 2nd identification, in my case, my father, with the same surname. I've filed missing stay, but they couldn't find the stay for the second room because it was not under my name. Subsequently, I've argued with the front desk to print me a copy of the receipt with both rooms having the same name for my purpose, but they refused.
Has anyone had this problem before in China?

Along the same lines--does anyone have any experience in Mexico? If I book 3 rooms, but only have 2 people to check-in, will the hotel have a problem with that? Basically, do you need a body to fill each room?

The Great Chase For Status Begins Again...

Ok, so as I understand it, if two members (Plat lites, not that it matters) are doing two nights at the same property, they should book two rooms each, one member for one night and the other member for the next night. This will net them each 2 stays and 2 nights instead of just one stay and two nights. The only down-side being the need to change rooms if the property insists. Each will get Plat Welcome Amenity.

Anyone see any other issues? At least other than the property messing up and not posting it as a two stays.
