I just received my Platinum card for next year (I re-qualified for 2017/18 Plat a few days before hitting Lifetime Plat, so I guess this card is redundant since my Lifetime one will be arriving at some point). The little brochure it came with mentioned SPG Cravings, which I hadn't heard about before. I checked out the link and it said there are 0 restaurants near where I live, Vancouver, BC. Curious if anyone has made use of this program (and where) and what your impressions were.
PS and off-topic: Is it just me or is the packaging for Plat cards getting more basic every year? The envelope it came is is so small, I almost thought it was junk mail and missed it.

Previously it was called SPG Restaurants & Bars, now it's called SPG Cravings. The restaurants & bars are basically the eateries/bars inside the Starwood hotels, so if there's no Starwood property near your location, then it would be zero.

There are three properties in downtown Vancouver, and another five in the general area. It just appears that none of them participate.

It is an obscure promo. Good luck finding a waiter/waitress who knows how to process it even if the restaurant does participate.

It's just a rebranding exercise.

It should, but it doesn't do it very well. The search function is terrible. You cannot search by state/province using the "location" search. You have to use the non-obvious "FIND ALL" link to bring up the better (but still poor) search interface.

Agreed. Why bother promoting a program that is so poorly executed? I live in a city that has nine Starwood hotels in its metropolitan area and "0 Restaurant Near Vancouver" comes up when I go to the search page.

Thanks for this, good to know. It just goes to show how much the search function sucks since I was unable to glean this basic information after spending several minutes on the site. Whistler is "near" enough to Vancouver that it should show up on searches automatically.

This is often likely to fail as I've tried around the world and wait staff usually doesn't know about it.
