I tend to agree as there is as much logic as to which members get these gifts as there is in which members get special offers and bonuses. It's all over the map -- at least the GM of the one property I stayed at the most in 2015 felt moved to give me a "thank you for your loyalty" gift. The gift basket was a nice touch and welcome thought.

Received mine, totally unexpected, last Thursday on New Year's Eve (I hadn't looked at this thread until now). So clearly the mailings are being staged over time.
I recall the label said something along the lines of SPG-Plat50 or SPG-Plat75. I'm also SPG Lifetime Gold, an SVO timeshare owner, and an SPG Amex holder.
Regardless of how I was chosen, I'm very pleased and grateful. SPG is the only travel loyalty program in which I've attained higher status to physically mail me a year-end gift, totally out of the blue. (Though I also do appreciate Alaska Airlines' emailed gift of two upgrade certificates.)

I got them too. I'm allergic to chocolate. Thanks Starwood.
Seriously though, my family thanks you. They enjoyed them very much. ^

I do miss the cookies that Alaska MVPGs used to get. That was an annual thing for a while.

Dark chocolate is part of my Amb. profile, but I was very specific that I like to eat it with a good Champagne. The chocolate box came by itself, so I will give SPG the benefit of the doubt and opt to think that it was just an administrative error.
I will not address this omission, but expect the mistake will not occur again at the end of this year .
Now, seriously and realistically, I would be satisfied if I get a cookie from Marriott at the end of this December, in the case I log in again 100 nights at Starwood properties in 2016 and if the Ambassador program is not shut down.

So Starwood apparently delighted my delay with an empty box. That's actually worse than not receiving chocolates (or anything at all). I'm not cancelling reservations over this; but if Starwood were a person (and I don't believe corporations are people), then s/he'd be dis-invited from everything.

I just received a box of these chocolates today, with a card thanking me for hitting all their brands last year (I didn't stay at a Design Hotel, but hit the other ten brands, including Tribute).
The 10th was an unexpected Element stay due to a cancelled flight - so that worked out nicely.
Thanks to SPG.

Zilch. SPG Plat 100+ for several years, Lifetime Gold, SPG AMEX $20k/year spend. No rhyme or reason, it seems.

I wouldn't bother. Message received. Just keep my rooms clean and functioning and I'll continue staying at SPG.
Thanks,

Maybe there are potential issues in shipping perishable food overseas plus possible duty being owed on it. It could be very complicated for Starwood as well as the recipients.

These are fabulous chocolates and available at O'hare in case anyone gets addicted. Mine were thanks for staying at all 10 brands. Recognition gifts are always a nice surprise and treat!
