As of February 2019 this hotel no longer offers club lounge access to Marriott Platinum and higher guests, even if upgraded to a room category which would otherwise offer lounge access, so lounge access mentioned in older reviews would no longer apply.

The hotel also no longer participates in Suite Night Awards.

Breakfast offering for Platinum and higher is in restaurant, buffet plus made to order eggs.

Yep date already mentioned in post #8.
But it's the same location?? I'm confused because I lookup on the map in SPG website seems to be near Hammatsucho JR while the original Grand Prince Asakusa is far away from it.

There has never been a Grand Prince Hotel in Asakusa.
In Akasaka, there was a Grand Prince Hotel, but it has been demolished.

Very curious indeed.

At least one of the Prince Hotels (the Sakura Tower in Shinagawa) has an affiliation with Marriott -- doesn't exactly seem like a coincidence that another Prince will be affiliated w/SPG.

Also interesting that this new hotel is in the same neighborhood as the new-ish Andaz (Hyatt).

There's a Nagatacho subway station entrance across the street from the hotel entrance. Easy access to the city.

That's not what the map on the hotel's seems to say. The web page map shows the hotel about 200m. north of Onarimon station (about 1km from Nagatacho): http://www.starwoodhotels.com/luxury...ropertyID=4443

The SPG website is definitely wrong.

See post #1 in this thread, page 8 of the PDF.

The two nearest stations appear to be Nagatacho to the SE and Akasaka Mitsuke to the S. The centre of each station is a little far from the hotel - using Google Maps it's 700m to Nagatacho and 500m to Akasaka. If I remember correctly, the two stations are linked by underground passages/shopping. Looks like you have to cross a river too, if exiting from the current exits (7 and D respectively).

However, the PDF says they intend to build direct covered access to Nagatacho.

Location looks interesting - something like the direct centre of the Yamanote line. I haven't wandered around this part of Tokyo before. Would be interesting to check it out.

There are only going to be 11 suites, of which 6 are the lowest tier. Guess likely upgrade options will be to corner rooms instead of which there are 11.

Does anyone know when this property will be available to book on the SPG site? The hotel's own booking site is already taking reservations.

Also, what category will this hotel be?

We are proud to announce that The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, a Luxury Collection Hotel is now part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. The hotel is accepting reservations as of today, February 1, 2016, for future dates on or after July 27, 2016. Please note that since this is a new activation, we will not expect availability on the web until later today. Also, Free Night Award bookings may take another 24 hours to be made available.

SPG Category 6.

Strange indeed that the suites/room ratio is so low. Any Idea why ?
Any confirmation of July 27th being the opening date ?

Well the 'new' Tribute Hotel in Hokkaido also has a similar suite/room ratio. Perhaps this is a Japanese 'thing'?

Yep, they need more base rooms to maximize profits.

When will the award inventory be loaded for the hotel? There's not a single date available for booking yet but rooms are available under BAR.

It would appear that the superior room types that are on the SPG6 rate plan are closed out for some reason. I can't find availability for them at either a paid rate or an award rate and I have no idea when they will be available.

There are deluxe rooms available using an SPG6 Select award beginning July 28th, but as the web site indicates, you would have to call to check availability for your travel dates.

You may have just answered my question above, William, but will Cash+Points or SPG Award Nights eventually be accepted for general bookings online? I've shuffled through most of the remaining months in 2016 and I see no such rates available... I'd like to plan for a future stay and be able to calculate the number of points needed to redeem for either Free Nights or Cash+Points by room category.

The number of points required differs between room categories and website will only show for base room. For anything other than base rooms, you'll need to contact SPG, it will not display online.
