It says "using registered AMEX card", so now my account has no credit card, if I do not add any card to my account, but still pay with AMEX during check out (or using AMEX for the online prepaid rooms), is this eligible?

OK, my verdict on SPG Keyless.
The Aloft Bogota took about 10 mins to set up after all the passport scanning and data entry that seems to occur every stay. But...when it finally worked, all good. Except for a key card is need to activate the power in the room. Grrr. Back down to the desk. Now on a weekend stay at the W Bogota and it had been over an hour since check-in at the desk with the passport scan, etc, etc and the app still shows 'Stop By Front Desk'. :td: Granted, I have fulfilled the promo requirements and paid with Amex as usual, but not quite sure how this saves time at the non-US/Canada properties?! |

I'm also curious what exactly a "registered AMEX card" is. Could one of the Lurkers clarify? I assume having it saved to my account info would be sufficient, but I want to be sure. TIA.
We are seeking clarification and will get back to you as soon as we can confirm. Kind regards, Alexandra Baker Specialist, Social Media Starwood Hotels and Resorts [email protected] |
My experience thus far (stay yesterday):
1. I registered for the promo 2. I made a reservation with an SPG Amex on the account 3. I checked in using the keyless, it didn't work, so manual intervention was necessary at front desk to finally get it to work (never got a physical key). 4. Checked out and paid with corporate card (Visa) Normal points posted, but not the promo bonus points yet. Will update with status. |

Bonus Starpoints should post within 2–4 weeks after the qualifying stay posts. As your stay was only yesterday, it may be the first week of January before the bonus appears on your account. Thanks for your patience. We have some clarification. Guests need to register their card as part of registering for the promotion, but do not need to save the card to their SPG profile/account. Your bonus Starpoints await: – Register: November 20 through February 29 (https://www.spg.com/amexkeyless) – Book: Guests must book with any American Express Card – Stay:November 20 through February 29 – Earn: One-time 2500 bonus Starpoints for one eligible stay Hope this helps! Sounds like a great deal..... but having the "right" phone is important.
The best I can find is the "right" phone is the following: Device Type Device Operating System iPhone 4S and above iOS 8 and above Samsung Galaxy S® 4 Android > 4.3 Samsung Galaxy S III Android > 4.3 Samsung Galaxy Note® II Android > 4.3 Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android > 4.3 HTC ONE Android > 4.3 Motorola Droid Android > 4.3 Google Nexus 5 Android > 4.3 However, this is a nonsensical list. I briefly had the Samsung S6 and I'm pretty sure I got a push notification once.... but it is not on the list. I do however currently have a moto X Pure which from a software and radio standpoint should be identical to the Nexus 5, but it is NOT the right phone. The list is terribly vague in the use of "HTC One" and "Motorola Droid" since there have been several "Ones" and "Droid" is actually a trademark of Verizon. At the end of the day, I have a modern smartphone running an OS way higher than what they require above and I've got all the right radios (bluetooth 4 and NFC and all possible Wifi bands).... So why exactly don't I have the right phone? |

That would be a one-off scenario which would be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Maybe I missed a nuance on this one? You used the app. Asking for a key later in the stay would not change this. Best regards, William R. Sanders Social Media Specialist Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide [email protected] |
