Really thinking if I should cancel Augustine and just stay at the Sheraton as the duplex suite is awesome. Prolly heading out to Augustine tomorrow and see what a classic suite looks like
Please try the augustine and report back here. lol

Just checked out. It is a beautiful property but IMO, the level of hospitality service I got from the Sheraton was much better. Don't know why but I felt treated better at the Sheraton.

Further, was even told that 4 PM late check out depends on availability. Is this a resort property? Not too sure...so ya guys have to check on this one.

Also for safety boxes in lobby, it is quite strange they keep both keys. So you have no key for the lobby safety box and pretty much any staff can open it. Just found it odd.

The the classic suite I got using SNA was alright. Nothing too fancy. Between the classic suite at Augustine and duplex suite at Sheraton, I'd choose the Sheraton Duplex Suite.

However, the folks working at the Augustine restaurant are AMAZING as well as the concierge! Truly top notch. Just unfortunate to say I prefer the front desk at Sheraton over Augustine.

PS: Augustine location wise is perfect. Probably 2-5 minutes walk from Charles Bridge. For location, definitely Augustine.

4 course meal set would cost 1200 CZK and sooooo yummy. Also try their soup. Super delicious. Bottle of ros wine would cost around 1100 CZK. So not too bad overall. Expect to spend 100-150 euros for lunch and dinner and wine and mini bar per day.

PS: upgraded to classic suite using SNA. To upgrade to next level up fresco suite would cost 500 euros per night. Which is strange....as bar rate fresco at time is 895 euros.

PPS: The Augustine just sent me an email folio of another guest with charges, etc. I sure hope my folio isn't emailed to some other person...

Follow up,

Check your starwood points, the Augustine does not give you credits for restaurant food/beverage charged to room. Spent about 325 euros on food and beverage on my 2 night stay and got zero points for that.

Also, they will tell you that 4 PM late check out depends on availability. I do not think this property is characterized as a resort property methinks.

Did you pay an eligible cash rate or points / cash&points? If the latter, you don't earn points. If the former, you might want to contact the Lurkers to clarify whether this is a non-property operated restaurant, or a mistake.

This is already being looked into as well as the 4 PM late check-out issue.

Haven't stayed at FS or Mandarin is which very close by.

But wow, thinks get fixed so quickly (Thanks to my Ambassador and William). My room service/minibar/resto points have now been posted.

Also person I emailed with at Augustine assured me that in the future front desk will know that 4 PM does not depend on availability for Elite guests, unless it changes into a resort?

Would still say give Augustine a go. It's a new Starwood Property. So the longer it remains a LC, I am sure the better it gets. Further as I have mentioned above, restaurant and concierge folks are truly top notch. Excellent quality and 1 front desk who dealt with me most of the time. The other front desks....No comment....

Just a suggestion for the property. Got an upgrade using SNA to classic suite which is BAR 795 euro. 1 level up Fresco suite is 895 euro. I would have gladly paid the difference between the two up to 200 euros a night to upgrade to 1 level up Fresco. But they say no, if you want to upgrade to Fresco, must pay 500 euros/night....Just a bit odd IMO since I've already been upgraded to Classic Suite using SNA. Just saying....The hotel ain't full that's for sure....

But anyways, food at the hotel resto is so yummy and cheap/reasonable. You'd probably pay the same amount eating somewhere else so might as well eat at the hotel resto and get starpoints.

I reserved a room at the Augustine earlier this year, before it became a Starwood hotel. Reservation is through Expedia, prepaid but refundable. Alas, I didn't use Amex SPG card and the rate has since gone up a lot (we're under €400 a night including tax and breakfast) and some days are no longer available, so switching cards could be a problem. Stay is early October.

Should I contact SPG to make sure there are no issues due to change in ownership? I don't have status. EDIT: I realize I don't get stay credit or points on a prepaid third party booking.

Anyone stay in a classic double room?

i booked a classic room for 4 nights at the augustine with 2 consecutive bookings. those bookings cost me 32000 starpoints + 515 Euro (taxes included). I supposed to get breakfast and internet as spg platinum. Seems there will be no upgrade due to hotel was sold out on my dates.

I also have a backup booking at the Mandarin oriental for the same dates. this booking costs me 880 Euro (taxes included) for a deluxe room. Breakfast and internet are also included in my rate.

So it seems that MO would be a winner?

3rdworldresident, I'm seeing cash prices at around 500E all in per night at the Augustine (classic) and 725E at the MO (deluxe terrace) for bookings in the near future.

If your per night rates are 515E plus 32000 points or 880E, and you value points at more than about a penny apiece, then the MO is the clear winner.

Thank you, richarddd.

The cost stated above was the total for 4 nights at each hotel.

Now im leaning toward the MO, as it seems more worthy.

I have booked 2 nights in Augustine for next weekend.
How are the Plats treated in terms of breakfast, shall I expect continental or full buffet breakfast without additional cost? SNA is still pending.
And also any experience with the spa?

Edit after the stay - It is a beautiful property in the very central point of Prague providing easy access to sightseeing points while making you feel relaxed in the quiet atmosphere as soon as you step in the hotel. As a plat, I chose the breakfast benefit - but at the check-in I had to mention this explicitly as no special platinum welcome, which is continental open buffet, all warm dishes are extra in the menu, even the grilled tomatoes or bacon. We ordered egg benedict and omelet in two separate days where we saw the quality and the cooking are not so consistent.
They do not use the standard Luxury collection towel sets, therefore we had the polyester mix bathrobes which disturbed me honestly. The evening turndown is also poor, they do not do anything else entering into your room, no towel change, no empty water bottle change, even no a small sweet bite on your bed...
The building itself is beautiful, but they have serious problems with the service and how to make you feel welcome in a luxury collection property, unfortunately it was one of the most unwelcoming stay. We tried the SPA, and may say it was so so..
Hope they would improve soon and reach the SPG standards.
If you plan to travel to Prague in these times, go directly to FS or MO where you would feel the luxury and get you pay for.

The continental open buffet had warm dishes, including steam table scrambled eggs. More warm dishes were included on the full menu.

We were impressed with the restaurant at dinner.

It is beautiful, but our check-in experience had serious issues (which they did try hard to remedy). Other service could use some improvement, but I wouldn't characterize it as "one of the most unwelcoming stay"

The check-in and other service at the Prague MO are in another league. Which I'd choose if we go back would depend on the price difference. At a large difference (whatever that means to you), I'd recommend the Augustine.
