Hmmm... based on what Hilton has charged me recently for my phone calls, this is a big plus for Starwood properties... Way to go!

Thank you Starwood for finally listening.

The old phone policy was the #1 reason I did not book the majority of my hotel stays at Starwood properties this year.

Why pay $2 for a toll-free call or $1.50 for a local when the Marriott Courtyard is free?

However, I did stay at the Westin Westminster, CO this week. They still charged $1.50 for local calls. I guess they didn't get the corporate memo yet!

The W NY offers free 800 calls and local calls are $1.25 for up to an hour.

Is this just at the W NY? The last time I stayed at the W Court and Tuscany, they charged $2.00 for toll free calls.

What happened to free 1-800 calls as a Club Level perk?

Maybe a little wake-up call to the rest-of-the world Starwoods (again... this time, however, not about the utter lack of promotions): 800 calls are just as free in the rest of the world, but Starwood hotels keep charging steep rates: I just checked out this morning and was charged, as usual, 3.86 Euro = 3.39 US$ for an 800 number call...

One thing I don't understand, is the 60 minutes cumulative or per call?

Is the Essex House one of those hotels requesting exemption? I was just charged $2 for 800 calls, and $1.50 for local calls + .15/minute after just FIVE minutes!!

Also, when I called the Plat. concierge, they knew nothing about this new directive, nor did they know there was an 'old' corporate directive.

William - please advise!

PHL, call Corporate Services at 1-800-328-6242 and file a formal complaint.

Also, realize that if the hotel applied for and received an exemption from lowering their phone rates, then these are what they are allowed to charge.
