If I manage to qualify on Sept 30th, I have at most 10 weeks to consume the free night at a Sheraton?
Would be nice if SPG follows the footsteps of Marriott where the free nite is valid for a year.

Fortunately we have a slightly better selection in Europe, plus in Asia where I may get some potential use. For North America, it is a definitely a little less exciting. Just depends on where you have in mind for the usage that drives the value here.

Having done the maths for me locally, I can get a positive return vs investment even on a 5:1 earn / burn rate. Without the cheap earning option, it would definitely be less attractive.

+1. I took the gamble since Marriott (more or less formally) announced that they will not do any promo over the summer and booked my work-trips in June, July and August with a Sheraton - already have a total of 18 nights booked there in July and August with just a handful at Marriott in these two month. So with my travel-pattern this promo works perfectly as I can use the free nights in November without using my SPG-points on a personal trip... So with this promo I will certainly keep my reservations in place and not change a few nights to Marriott to even out my balance between the two programs.

@Lurkers: Can I make point-reservations already now and then, once I have earned the free nights, convert them to certificate use, or will I need to cancel and re-book at that time?

Greetings - Dirk

Is sheraton promo redemption eligible for all suite property like "Sheraton Huahin Pranburi villa" ?

Lurker: How many promo-qualifying nights would a z3r stay earn? Thanks!

NO. 1 stay, but you will get X number of nights * 2 for night credit.

i thought 2 rooms booked under the same name counted as 2 stay credits....

Two stay ccredits for elite status but possibly just one stay for this promo.

I plan to switch from a Westin to a Sheraton that will give me 6 nights and 14 during the promotion. If it started on the 8th I would have 17 nights.

Hi djohannw,

The point-reservations can not be converted to free Sheraton weekend night. It is suggested that you make the reservation with free Sheraton weekend night before canceling the point-reservations.

Moderator Note : Thread split

For clarity, rather than have one thread discussing both the SPG Make It Count and Sheraton Free Weekends promotions, I have separated out the posts into 2 threads :

This thread for discussion of the Sheraton Free Weekends promo

and

This thread for discussion of the SPG Make It Count promotion.

Hi wobbly wings,

Yes, nights booked under BRG rate are counted eligible if all other promotion conditions are met.

I have two bookings under my name at the Sheraton New Orleans. We will check in at the same day, where I will be staying four nights, and the two other rooms three nights. That should qualify for two FWN :)

I have a 5 night booking at the Sheraton Tokyo so that's another FWN :)

Thanks SPG ^

July 9th is an awkward start date, likely selected to bypass July 4th weekend.
Why not Monday July 6th it will still miss the July 4th weekend?
I have a 3 night stay booked 6/7/8

Easy 3 nights free, at the properties I most frequent. What's not to like?

Cheers,

Hi nongsom,

Thanks for your post.

The promotion is eligible for Standard Rooms only, therefore an all suites hotel does not participate.

Feel free to email or send a PM in case you have further questions.
