How to Upgrade Starwood Membership Status

Currently I'm considered a corporate preferred member at Starwood. I'd be willing to give up my elite status at Hilton and Marriott if Starwood would confer elite status. Does anyone have information on who I should speak to at Starwood? I haven't had good results with anyone there yet.

Corporate preferred should give you the same room upgrades as Gold, but no 50% bonus. I take it you want to be comped to Platinum. I don't know how to get that but I've heard it done... try calling SPG.

Corporate Perferred status do include the 50% bonus (at least they do for my employer.)

OK, when I was corporate preferred I got no 50% bonus but threshold bonuses every 5 stays.

Free Platinum or Higher has to be given by Starwood President & or CEO

Seawolf, 505% how do I sign up for this? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

And please don't tell me it was a typo.

MGJ--assuming you would be happy with Gold status, just sign up for the FREE Starwood American Express Optima card, and you AUTOMATICALLY get Starwood Gold for the first year. It's a no brainer, at least for the initial year.

Boomer,

It's pretty simple. You just have to qualify for SPG plutonium level program. It's awarded to you once you stay 360 nights per year at any Starwood property worldwide. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Must all of the 360 nights be at the same property?

Rudi Mar 25, 2000 2:35 pm

I believe it is 361 nights in years with a feb-29 - isn't it?

BeantownFlyer Mar 25, 2000 8:57 pm

And statistics show that of those 361 nights you will be automatically upgraded 3 times, and receive the infamous "welcome amenity" once.

SAPMAN Mar 25, 2000 10:11 pm

If you rent two rooms each night, can one earn Plutonium level in 180.5 nights and get the special benefit the remaining 180.5 nights? Or will that only equal ONE STAY, so you never can get in on the special promotions? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

RichG Mar 26, 2000 7:59 pm

Correct. All stays during the same year on the same planet count as one stay. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

SAPMAN:

As far as having 2 rooms, I know that you get the points for up to 3 rooms on your card, but I don't think it increases your nights or stays because both are in the same night & part of the same stay (plus, it's physically difficult to stay in more than 1 room at a time unless you sleep in the connecting room doorway! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif ).

Corporate Preferred members do not receive the 50% bonus on their stays - only Gold and Platinum members receive this bonus. Corporate members receive 2000-point bonuses after their 5th and 10th stays. If a Corporate Preferred member did receive a 50% bonus on any stay it may be because they were Gold at the time of the stay, or perhaps due to a system error.
