UPDATE: October 26, 2017
Effective December 17, 2017 the SPG partnership with Uber will come to an end.

Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017.

If the stay overlaps with the program end date, you will still earn 2 starpoints per USD 1 spent on Uber rides taken during your stay. Any rides taken after 11:59 on December 17, 2017 even if taken during a stay that originated on or before December 17, 2014 will not earn starpoints on that uber ride.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will members stop earning Starpoints on their Uber rides?
Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits.

If members have a stay that overlaps with the program end date, will they still earn 2 Starpoints per US$1 spent on Uber rides taken during the stay?
Yes, members who check-in for a Stay prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017 and have an Uber pick-up time prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits, will earn 2 Starpoints for every U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent for fares on the Uber ride(s). Any rides taken after 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, even if taken during a stay that originated on or prior to December 17, 2017, will not earn Starpoints on the Uber ride(s). To earn Starpoints for any Uber ride the member must have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year.

Why did I recently have a delay in my Starpoints posting for my Uber rides?
An issue was identified affecting Uber rides over the last month that delayed the posting of points to member accounts. We have since fixed this issue and members should receive all ride credits within the stated 2-4 week period.

Uber Partnership Update
  • During Hotel stay: Members will earn two Starpoints per US$1 spent with Uber (versus two, three or four Starpoints per US$1, depending on member tier).
  • Everyday: members will earn one Starpoint per US$2 spent with Uber (versus one Starpoint per US$1).

With your SPG and Uber accounts linked and you have met a requirement of ONE qualifying stay in the current calendar year, SPG members will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Uber on every day rides. For rides during stays, SPG members will earn 2 points per dollar spent on Uber (Preferred), 3 points per (Gold or Platinum), or 4 points per (Plat75).

There is a maximum of $10,000 in points-earning spend with Uber per calendar year. This means that you could have up to 40,000 SPG points with this promotion (if you were a Plat75 and only used Uber while on SPG stays and maxed out $10,000 in Uber services).

Ho Chi Minh City - Charged in local currency VND.

We are excited to announce a one of a kind partnership with Uber. Both Starwood and Uber are global companies that make travel easier for customers worldwide. This partnership will allow SPG to provide a seamless travel experience for our members. We are excited to provide SPG members with an opportunity to earn Starpoints each time they take an Uber ride as well as bonus Starpoints when they stay with Starwood. Now, earning Starpoints is as easy as requesting an Uber.

Here’s how it works:
Link your SPG and Uber accounts at spg.com/uber. Your last name and email address must match on both accounts.
Complete one qualifying stay in the calendar year at any Starwood Hotel or Resort worldwide.
Within 24 hours of linking accounts SPG members will start earning Starpoints.

Here’s an overview of the earning potential by tier:

Did a google and found the following blogpost on Uber site.

Starting today riders who are Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) members have the opportunity to earn coveted Starpoints during any ride on the Uber platform.

I hope it's available globally and not just for the US market.

Important: To verify and link your SPG and Uber accounts, you
must use the same email address and last name to sign in with
Uber that you use to sign in with SPG.

In short, does that mean after linking my accounts, I need one future stay to start earning pts via Uber rides.

Or previous stays this calendar year will apply and I can start earning right now?

I dont believe its retroactive to past stays. My interpretation is you just need one stay per year (after registering) for it to stay linked.

I tried registering and it's not working for me. It says either my last name or email address are not matching between SPG and Uber. I checked both profiles and email addresses match and so does my last name. So, unsure what's wrong...

Nevermind, I verified reading the really long T&C, points to take note of:

Earning Starpoints for Any Uber Usage:
Subject to Section 2.2.b of these SPG-Uber Benefits Program Terms, Participants who meet the eligibility criteria set forth in Section 1 of these SPG-Uber Benefits Program Terms and who have at least one Stay already posted to their SPG Member account in the current Calendar Year will earn one base Starpoint for every one U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent on fares for any Uber Usage.

Each Participant will only be able to earn base Starpoints for fares on any Uber Usage up to a maximum spend of $10,000 U.S dollars or its foreign equivalent denomination on Uber Usages per Calendar Year (“Maximum Spend Amount”) pursuant to this Section 2.2 of these SPG-Uber Benefits Program Terms.

Participants will begin earning Starpoints for any Uber Usage that occurs 24 hours after (1) such Participant completes his/her registration for the SPG-Uber Benefits Program and (2) at least one Stay has posted to his/her SPG Member account during the current Calendar Year, regardless of the order of when the Stay was posted and when he/she completed the registration.

The calendar year begins at January 1. The FAQ seems to indicate that any qualifying stay on the account from January 1 to February 25 will count for that qualifying stay.

You will become eligible to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program 24 hours after you have both registered for the SPG-Uber benefits program and your first Stay has posted to your SPG Member account for the current calendar year. If you are registered for the SPG-Uber benefits program but do not have a Stay posted to your account for the current calendar year, you will begin earning Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program 24 hours after your first Stay within the current calendar year posts to your SPG Member account.
