These were the last two non-participating properties in the Starwood system:
It still notes this in the Terms and Conditions, but they will be updated soon:
"SPG Participating Hotels" are hotels, resorts, and other transient stay properties that are owned, managed or franchised by Starwood, except for:
Le Méridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina
The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina

How does the lounges compare ?
I'm going on week of R&R with wife and 2 kids in February, and is booked in a 1 room appartment at the Grosvenor House because of the lounge and the chance of upgrade to a larger appartment/suite.
Rates are roughly the same with the Westin about 20% higher.

I have not stayed at the Westin, but the lounge at Grosvenor house is very family friendly with a separate area for children. I also like the convenience of having an apartment while traveling with children, e.g. washing machine/dryer.
It will take you less than ten minutes to walk to the Le Royal Meridien, and you do not have to cross the street with a lot of traffic. (Take to the left and the left again when you walk out of Tower 2, then cross under the bridge with all the traffic.)
Do the new properties have common pools and beach?

Question for lurkers: will stays at these hotels count for ongoing promotions? Specifically, my bonus platinum challenge was 7,000 points after 7 stays (up to 1st March 2015). If I stay at Le Meridien Mina Seyahi in February, will this stay count towards the promotion. The promotion t&c's refer to the participating properties in the general t&cs, which as you rightly point out above have not yet been updated.
TIA

The stay will count towards the promotion if it is booked under eligible paid rate and meets the other conditions of the promotion.

I am going to give this thread a bump.
We are fans of the Grosvenor house in Dubai, but planning to go with our kids this time in May.
Being next to the beach in May seems like a good plan.
Anybody stayed at this hotel as a Platinum? what are your experiences?
