Introducing SPG Preferences

With the introduction of SPG Preferences you now have more choices to customize your stays. Be sure to update your stay preferences within your profile you can update them once and before each stay its your choice. We want your travels to be as close to perfect as possible.

See more about SPG Preferences and update your preferences at spg.com/preferences.

Didn't really see much here.

However, I was able to choose my Platinum upgrade preference (of largest room, best view or highest floor) Would be nice if we were able to choose/list them in priority order rather than just one choice.

We'll see what they can accomplish. I have all sort of preferences with Marriott in my profile, not a one of which is ever met.

Highly skeptical.

I can see how the preferences an get much more detailed.

Lurkers- when you say "or before each stay" does this mean separately in the stay information or in this general preferences section? The reason I bring that up is because I have different preferences depending on type of stay (view with the wife, work space for business, space for family trips), and those stays are often back to back...

Thanks for clarifying!

You can set different preferences for each individual stay by accessing a particular reservation and entering your wishes for that stay.

May I suggest the "quiet/secluded" be one of the choices. It sort of is with "no connecting door" option, but for me this is by far and away the #1 choice when it comes to room assignments or upgrades. I suspect I am not alone in this.

More than happy to pass along for future considerations.

Related to this, I was surprised to see "close to elevator" which I used to request from Hilton back when I worked 18 hours a day, but not "far from elevator" which is nice if you want to make sure you don't get beeps and the sound of the ice machine every few minutes when you're trying to sleep.

Agreed, I'd like quiet/secluded too as a choice (which I also think covers away from elevator).

It's definitely a step up. Now at least when they keep trying to give me rooms with connecting doors I can point to my profile preferences.

Of course with the updated SPG.COM my account now says Mr/Mrs Deac83. Maybe the know Mrs. Deac83 likes to spend my points.

A real enhancement.^ We will have to see how it actually works in practice. Some properties are not very good at reading what's in profile or reservation notes.

I LOVE the "feather free" option !

Marriott has always had a feather free room prepared for me, prior to arrival.

BUT, how can this work with SPG's upgrades to best available room/suite at time of arrival? It's an issue I've discussed in the past with my Ambassador. Do I have to compromise? We'll see...

One tactical question, does this now get applied to existing reservations or only newly booked reservations.

I updated my preference and the next reservation did not have the new preferences.

Wonder why suite is not one of the choices?
