I also got one.
I got a much smaller check from my Hilton AMEX awhile back, also with the notation, missing points. I cashed that one without a problem.

curious
Has anyone received a check for a card they've held only for a year or less?
I'm just curious if whatever the "problem" was, it was recent in Amex's eyes, or maybe something that happened a long time ago.
I can't answer this question, as I've had a Personal for a few years, but I've churned some Business cards.

We've had at least two personal and two business cards. So far one check for one of the business cards. It was opened in 2010 and closed in 2011. I was hoping to get more checks - but so far only one! Don't know if this had anything to do with it - http://www.consumerfinance.gov/newsr...ard-practices/
The article was from Dec, 2013, but guess it could have taken AMEX awhile to pay.

Same thing happened to me, but from another card - it doesn't really say which one - tho I have three AMEX (Blue/Delta/DeltaBiz)
Anyone have the cajones to give AMEX a call and see what's up?

Unfortunately, depending on which card it's for, they may have an obsolete address for us (and our forwarding just expired). Oh well, it's found money anyway so I'm not really concerned.

interesting, I'm kinda curious now as to why AMEX would do business with and send a check from a competitor like JPM when they themselves are a bank and could issue a check from their own bank/account.

I got $400 and I don't recall any missing SPG points. I did not get some Amex because I applied within 12 months of the closing the previous one though.
Hopefully this is not a trick and glad there are others out there who received it.

I think I'm missing points and a couple checks...
