Missed by one day. Is there a chance to book with the old category?

About the same chance as re-picking your lottery numbers because you missed the jackpot by one number!

The Westin Resort Puerto Vallarta is still showing up at the old category 3 online, instead of the new category 2 that was shown on the update list.

I wonder if they're still making updates. Has anyone else spotted any other not-yet-updated hotels?

We wanted to let you that there were some re-calculations with regard to three properties and the list provided in the first posting has been updated to reflect this.

So no one has to labor over comparing the new list to the one that was provided before, here are the changes that were made most recently:

Hotel Bristol Odessa - Category 4 to Category 5 (had been listed as no change; now going up from 2013)

Westin Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta - Category 2 to Category 3 (had been listed as going down; now no change from 2013)

St. Regis Osaka - Category 6 to Category 5 (had been listed as no change; now going down from 2013)

Thank you for your patience during the category change process.

Best regards,

Shucks I was really planning on a trip to PV just for the Westin. Guess not now.

Overall, the changes are not nearly as bad as I had feared or as bad as in previous years.

To me, the biggest surprise on here is the Four Points Munich OlympiaPark -- I am routinely able to get rates there for 90 euros or less -- it is usually the cheapest SPG hotel in Munich.

I made a couple of reservations on Maui before the increase in category, so they were 16,000 points. My reservations on spg.com were in the last few days modified to show that each room is 25k. Since the points were already deducted, I assume I don't care. But is this common. Will I be required to pay another 9k points?

Yes, it happens every time there is a category change. No the amount of points you use will not change for existing bookings.

Sheraton Waikiki from 12,000 to 20,000 pts, ouch! Not sure this jump makes sense at all.

I have to ask, based on what information do you make that statement?

Um yeah. Yes, I already know that. I'm wondering why fullnelson3, is not sure why the jump makes sense. What information does he have to prove the move in category is a bad thing?

A search in this thread for "waikiki" will provide pointers to much discussion. Consensus is that for the same points, the Royal Hawaiian next door is far superior.
