I'm quite happy with these changes as I travel mostly around Asia on points.

They will rarely devaluate properties in solid markets like NYC, BKK or HKG (I wish the Sheraton HKG would have moved down a cat...).

But very satisfied with the Bali, Shanghai and Japan properties.

What I find ridiculous in Asia: LM Taipei and LM Kota Kinabalu.... given that W and LM there are already so expensive and LM is so not worth a cat 3....

All in all, quite satisfied with this... until it's confirmed that is.

I have no issue with the changes here. This is refreshing to see after all of the recent negative changes in other programs (and Starwoods C+P devaluation last year).Hopefully future changes will be more like this year's changes and less like last year's changes.

Aside from the laughable FP Miami move up (which I know is based on ADR, NOT quality) nothing here kills me. Heck, maybe I'll go check out Panama and Puerto Vallarta now

My favorite Egypt property, Le Meridien Dahab, going from a Category 2 to a Category 1. Too bad it's not super safe to visit the Sinai Peninsula at the moment...

Guess that shows how many are booking there. . .

I'm surprised to see:

The Mikro Kavouri area is under new ownership who plan to upgrade the properties (Arion & Westin) into "six-star" hotels... Maybe they also finally get the W built !

I just hate seeing anything going up to cat 7. That is basically like la la land. HUGE points to use and can't use our 35% off redemption cert there any longer etc...... the list gets longer and longer of reasons to hate cat 7 designations, other than they are great properties.

I believe that the Peruvian Starwood properties are being discussed more on Flyertalk so I thought I would point out that the Four Points Miraflores opened up last year and was put as a category 3. Since they've been open they've consistently been the same price or cheaper than the Sheraton Lima that is a category level 2.

I'm curious why the Four Points Miraflores did not lower a category 2 property?

Sheraton Lima probably has a ton of rooms that are sold at airline crew (and also, distressed passenger) rates.

Trying to book Sheraton Waikiki for Feb 2015, and I see traditional (city view) rooms for sale, but no award inventory. What's going on here? Is the hotel blocking awards till rates go up next week?

I can look into this, but I need the actual dates you are looking to book. Feel free to send the information via email, if you wish.

I continue to be stunned about the increase for the Westin Maui and the Sheraton Maui. While this goes on, Starwood Vacation Resorts has kept the comversion rate of time share weeks to 80,000 starwood Points for their 2 bedroom hawaiian properties, which would mean a week of a 2 bedroom time share into 4 nights at the relic and substandard westin or sheraton on maui. Total ridiculousness.

Any update? I would like to get this booked before the new rates come into effect. The hotel doesn't seem to be playing fair.

Okay, thanks. Please let me know if you need me to also forward you the screenshots showing the availability of standard rooms on paid rates for these dates, but no award availability, in case it helps the "investigation"!
