How's plat treatment at Cosmo? How's their players' club program?

The big draw of the Caesar's promotion is that I could earn qualifying nights with SPG on comp'd stay. CET has a large portfolio of properties at which I can get fully comp'd stays based on my play patterns. Don't know if I can replicate that without Caesar's.

Have you tried asking Cosmo or MLife for a status match to your CET Diamond?

Don't know, I've never stayed at Cosmo. This may be a change that some aren't going to like but I can understand it. With Marriott/Starwood having Cosmo on the strip and SLS/W just off it I can understand not wanting to reward business at competitors.

Ceasars allowed limited stay/night credits to your SPG accounts. Staying at the Marriott does not at present. Although there is also the renovated Westin, the SLS and W now, albeit none of them at prime locations.

If it's really true that the Marriott <-> Cosmo relationship is why this is canceled, then I think that's the first negative impact I've seen from the SPG+Marriott merger.

I guess now that they have the W LV and the Westin they think they don't need the partnership anymore.

Cosmo is a nice property but I wouldn't expect a lot of benefits there and it's not going to help with SPG requalification since the programs are still being run separately.

Well, this stinks. The Cosmopolitan is a downgrade as far as I'm concerned.

No new Total Rewards VIP Access cards will be issued after December 31, 2016 to SPG Platinum members. Platinum members who are already in possession of Total Rewards VIP Access cards will be able to utilize them until their expiration date.

Well, I think William "broke the news" right here on FT. But anyhow, your wish has been delivered:

More likely that Caesar's was quickly heading towards bankruptcy when the deal was signed. They needed any revenue they could get. Now that they are climbing back out and presumably dumped a lot of their debt, and business in Las Vegas has vastly improved, they have less need for the partnership.

This is a bummer for me. I have reservations at Caesar's for six days in January for an industry conference. I'm only GLD right now, so I wouldn't have received any benefits, but I would have been well on my way to PLT with the other travel I have planned. This will push getting over that hurdle back by 4 to 6 weeks.
