Cairo

spg.com says that the Le Méridien Cairo Airport will open on September 1. Any further info on an actual opening day?

The contact info for the hotel is on the website. You should contact them directly:

[email protected]
Phone: (20)(2) 22685103

I would imagine as is the case of most newly constructed hotels, that the opening will be delayed.

I wouldn't hold my breath. With all of the unrest on Cairo most construction is seriously delayed. The St Regis was supposed to open in 2014 and keeps being pushed back.

Nothing seems to open on time (or even close) anymore so I always arrange a backup plan. For me, Le Meridian Pyramids was a mediocre hotel but my wife & I loved looking out the window at the pyramids. I'd go back. I had some customer service issues at Sheraton Cairo but that was several years ago.

I would add at least one year to any estimate coming out of Egypt.

Yes, I think it is scheduled (ha ha ha) to reopen mid 2014.
