SPG vs AMEX Fine Hotels Upgrade Chances
Staying at Danieli in Venice in May. Are my chances better for an upgrade using AMEX Plat. Fine Hotel & Resorts or as an SPG Gold member? Can I combine? Book through Fine Hotel & Resorts and add my SPG Gold #? HELP! Thanks!

The website isn't available in my market, so I don't know if you can do it yourself or if you have to call up.

Book through FHR and then, add your gold status for your SPG points.
If you want to see the Lagoon, you had better book the basic Lagoon view room(usually 2nd floor without terrace)) and might get deluxe lagoon view room with small terrace(3rd floor or up).
If you book through FHR, you will have nice breakfast at top floor with great view and one-time afternoon tea at lobby lounge.
Usually, afternoon tea there costs around 70 euro for two persons.
