As a Delta Platnium, if I sign up for a SPG account today and register with crossover on March 1, will I still get SPG points for flights booked before today flown after March 1? I know if I was registered before booking the flight with SPG I would get the SPG points but the T&C aren't really clear abouyt it in my case.
I think this is a good program. Higher level elites from both programs benefit. Most of my stays go to Hilton, but I am going to give SPG a shot now that I know I will at least have free wifi and a late checkout as a Delta Plat. And for SPG Plats who need to check a bag on Delta with no status, they can avoid a bag fee and get to wait in the shorter elite checkin lane.
win/win for both.

I think the FAQ answers this question:
Q: Can I earn Starpoints and/or Delta miles for eligible Delta flights and/or Eligible Stays at SPG Participating Hotels I booked prior to registering for Crossover Rewards?
If you are registered for Crossover Rewards and meet the eligible criteria, you will be able to earn Starpoints for eligible Delta flights and/or Delta miles for Eligible Stays at SPG Participating Hotels if you registered for Crossover Rewards at least 48 hours prior to taking an eligible Delta flight and/or 48 hours prior to checking out of the SPG Participating Hotel for an Eligible stay regardless of when such flight or stay was booked.

No worries. Just keep in mind that benefits begin on March 1st. Flights before that date aren't eligible.

While I can see great merit in the combination of the hotel / air programs, arguably it weakens SPG hold on the traveler, as it will me. So long as I maintain Plat status with Delta I can select hotels for location, price, etc and no longer focus on a Starwood brand. Currently I have Plat with SPG but it takes some thought and loyalty, this removes that and frees me up to build loyalty and benefits in other programs, when it suits me. In the short term, as a Plat SPG member, I would expect I will see a diminishment in my suite upgrade success due to influx of Delta Platinum members also chasing same inventory.
Time will be the judge of who wins and loses on this idea.

I just reread it and it does look like I won't get any SPG points on Delta At least the free wifi and 4 p.m. checkouts will be nice if I stay at an SPG.

This may be nitpicky- how will crediting work for people who have booked round trip flights departing before 3/1 with return flights on/after 3/1? Will it be based on the value of the segment completed on/after 3/1? Seems like that could be tricky to figure out....

1. Delta elites only get enhanced rooms, not room upgrades. So it won't affect Plat suite upgrades.
2. As a Delta elite on SPG, you get an additional SPG point per dollar spent there... bringing it to a potential 5 pts per dollar spend (if you're SPG 75 and Delta elite)
That surely will entice more people to remain elite on both sides... 5 points per dollar is a very good earn rate.

I think this is great!
As a SPG LTP, I'll get Skymiles for my hotel stays and SPG Points for my Delta flights. And, since I'm a lowly Silver Medallion as of Feb 28th, I'll still get priority check-in and boarding. Works for me.

Do SPG plats get upgrades on Delta flights?
You know what else is interesting? From the language of the T&C:
So, Delta elites get 4pm check out at Resorts but SPG Plats do not?

"SkyMiles Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion® members earn 1 mile for every dollar spent on eligible room rates at over 1,100 Starwood hotels and resorts globally. Plus, SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members receive additional SPG benefits at Starwood hotels and resorts — 4 p.m. late checkout, access to the SPG elite check-in line, complimentary in-room Internet access and an upgrade to an enhanced room at check-in, when available.

Thanks for all of the comments about Crossover Rewards. Glad to see the excitement over this new partnership with Delta. We wanted to address questions regarding room upgrades for SPG Elite members. There are many new benefits with Crossover Rewards, but nothing has changed regarding upgrades for SPG Elite members.
SPG Platinum members are prioritized for the best available room at check-in – including standard suites, when available. SPG Gold members will continue to be prioritized for enhanced rooms.
