Luker I think you left out a big part from the "and more part". According to the official promotion page SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum Medallion members now can upgrade to an enhanced room at check-in, when available. Pretty big dilution of SPG Platinum benefits I'd say.

At least SPG Platinums get some kind of tradeoff benefits while flying Delta like a free bag and priority boarding....SPG Golds get no flying benefits in exchange for the dilution.

Enhanced room is the benefit for a gold member.. Like a higher floor, but no actual room upgrade so no effect on Platinum members, luckily, or I wouldn't be happy.

Basically Delta Diamond and Plat get SPG Gold Benefits

SPG Plat get Delta Amex Benefits (Priority Boarding, Free Bag) and ability to earn 1 SPG/$ Spent (in addition to Delta miles). Priorirty checkin doesn't really help if you are TSA pre.

Basically it means I can cancel Delta Amex card $90/annual fee since I now get the benefits for free.

So as a plat you get a $90/yr benefit.
As a gold, you get diluted (more competition for rooms)

The exciting information released today by SPG and the Delta SkyMiles program are the official benefits of Crossover Rewards. There was no official information released by either company prior to today.

I don't suppose there is a chance in Heck that I can get Starpoints for a DL ticket I bought a few weeks ago.

Was the ticket used before your opportunity to enroll in Crossover Rewards?

No, it is a ticket for a future flight. Can I get points for this?

I think the FAQ answers this question:

Q: Can I earn Starpoints and/or Delta miles for eligible Delta flights and/or Eligible Stays at SPG Participating Hotels I booked prior to registering for Crossover Rewards?

If you are registered for Crossover Rewards and meet the eligible criteria, you will be able to earn Starpoints for eligible Delta flights and/or Delta miles for Eligible Stays at SPG Participating Hotels if you registered for Crossover Rewards at least 48 hours prior to taking an eligible Delta flight and/or 48 hours prior to checking out of the SPG Participating Hotel for an Eligible stay regardless of when such flight or stay was booked.

No biggie, just pointing it out.
SPG & Delta have removed it or decided to delay the deployment. It was on the previous version of terms and conditions.
