What breakfast option for SPG Plus rate?

SPG Plus rate shows under full description:

Enjoy continental breakfast for two daily. SPG Membership is required. Also included free HSIA and 500 bonus SPG points perstay therough March 31, 2013

The property in question is a Sheraton. This description does not specify whether the continental breakfast refers to that provided in Club Lounge or breakfast in the hotel restaurant. If the latter, does this imply breakfast does not include hot items?

The room category for this rate is a standard room, not Club Floor although I end up there anyway as SPG Plat.

The actual property will make a difference here as some go well above expectations for Plats. Do a search for the property location and see what you find.

In general, when it say continental, that does exclude hot items like eggs & meats. Again, some properties allow Plats to have a full breakfast or a reduced rate. Not enough detail for a definitive answer.

The property does not have a master thread.

I am NOT asking about Plat benefits but rather the breakfast included in the SPG Plus rate. I have seen this rate offered at multiple properties but have never booked it. My question arose because of the Club Lounge. If the property did not have a Club Lounge, the only breakfast option would be in the hotel restaurant.

I would assume that continental breakfast included in a non-Club Floor rate would imply breakfast in restaurant. I have learned from previous experience not to assume and thought one of the Lurkers might clarify what breakfast option is included in SPG Plus rate.

You are assuming the property follows SPG guidelines (not always wise). If they don't have a master thread, or mentioned in any of the breakfast threads, then posting the property location might get you a response from someone that has been there. They may even have some good suggestions regarding the club lounge and/or restaurant choices. Maybe you can save some money by going for a non-breakfast rate and using the club or walking next door.

Bottom line, the more data you provide, the better the answer. Otherwise, we are all guessing, even the Lurkers, since some properties have been known to go above and beyond for Plats (and some don't).

I can only assume that whether it is served in the Club Lounge or the hotel's restaurant that it will be a Continental breakfast.

Some properties include oatmeal, coffee, and tea as an option. Otherwise, a Continental breakfast is entirely made up of cold items rather than hot.

Just to bring up this thread a bit, as I booked a stay under this rate, and did not receive Starpoints for it since it was listed as an Award stay. A call to the SPG customer service mentions it was an 'ineligible' rate. Are they right about it?

FYI, I booked the stay via the SPG website directly.

Was this booked as an award stay (Free Night Award or Cash & Points) or a paid-rate stay?

Paid-rate stay, but I got it settled. Though only after talking to 2 agents on the phone and forwarding my folio. The customer service even told me initially it was an ineligible rate to earn Starpoints. SPG sure need to step up its training for these customer service agents!
