Room received: Very appealing 1 BR/1.5 BA Jr Suite. They also gave me a free drink at the bar and a choice of snacks sent up to my room. Much appreciated.

Comments: If I have the time I prefer to come here vs. the FRA Airport Sheraton because of the nice pool and spa. They don't have a Club Lounge, but I don't care because I just leave early and use the LH lounges in FRA. As detailed above, I usually get better SPG recognition here anyway.

Comments: At check in I was told that the hotel is well booked so I got the better upgrade than normal, check out still had to pay but it was worth the 30€. The standard and deluxe room (would rate as 3*) are outdated, grand deluxe and classic junior suite (about 4*) are ok. The deluxe junior and deluxe suites (5*) have a separate entrance and are at the historical part of the hotel. Its world different then the other part of the hotel. Suites are much more modern and luxury.

I'm at Westin Lagunamar in Cancun. My reservation was cash/points $60 a night plus 40 points for a studio villa. I've stayed here 4 times in the past, possibly more, and this is the 2nd time they upgraded me to the full 1 bedroom suite I've come to love. If they keep this up, I can see many happy trips to escape the Winter blahs!

Comments: Located on the 30th Floor. Didn't have to ask for a Suite. Breakfast (Continental) offered but at the table the served full breakfast. Very fast WLAN (or LAN Access). I even updated my Iphone and Ipad to the latest Software Version within 10 minutes. Excellent Service. Perfect!

Comments: This upgrade was tied more to our negotiated corporate rate as my non-SPG colleague got a similar upgrade, though a lower floor.
I didn't ask so I'm not sure why the available Carlsbad Suite wasn't offered as a Plat upgrade, but the FD mentioned the room I got was being held for another Plat. I got it because I checked in early and my room wasn't ready. Thus it appears Coastal is likely the upgrade Plats get at this place.
