It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Does elite status achieved through spend on a Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express count towards earning SPG Lifetime Gold status?
Yes. Achieving 1 year of elite status through spend on a Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express counts as 1 year of elite status towards obtaining SPG Lifetime Gold status.

Thank you. I stand corrected. Though it's interesting that this would count, while achieving status via a double-night promotion wouldn't (as per post #742).

Don't want to spoil your celebration but I think you might have to... or just get a the treatment of a third class plat and hardly chances of decent upgrades. It makes a difference how many nights you clock every year, lifetime or not.
The lifetime status is always next to your "real" status in the systems... and the latter determines your treatment. Lifetime is merely the metal card and free lounge/internet. At least that is my experience. I would be happy if people correct me on that one.

Would be interested if you could post specific examples where the treatment of a lifetime plat was worse than that of a 'higher grade' plat.

Thankfully I have my umbrella open as you try to rain on my parade!

When I travel for leisure with my kids, the free lounge/breakfast is what is important to me, so having lifetime platinum is important for that reason alone! ^

I have been lifetime plat as well. I don't agree that LP is not important. There are many benefits and believe you still get an upgrade when available that is better than gold. 100 receives ambassador and 75 receives the 24 hour benefit. Both I don't see as major benefits to me. No rain here. Congrats on hitting LP

How long does it generally take for one's account to reflect lifetime status once you reach the landmark ?

Congrats on attaining your Lifetime status. I believe it should not take too long for your account to be updated.

Immediately. As far as I remember, the moment I hit the 50 nights for re-qualification, the sign on the SPG homepage in the top right corner of your personal details box jumped to "Lifetime Platinum".

Would I be correct presuming you mean once your 50th night posted and not just the stay? If your rez is for 5 nights and night one puts you over 50, you still have to wait for the stay to post and you'll see 54 nights. Some have expected real-time updates during stays.

Yes, you're right. That happened after the nights were credited, which is usually after the stay is accomplished, paid for and the hotel is crediting the nights/stay to SPG. In my case it jumped from 48 to 54 nights or something. I thought that would be common sense... sorry, if I was not clear enough.

Could the issue be that you won't see your Gold Lifetime status until you drop from your current Plat elite level down to Gold?

I know that's how Marriott's LT statuses work. So maybe SPG's works in a similar fashion?
