It can take up to 7 business days from the day you qualified for your Lifetime Platinum status to be picked up by the system.

Starwood / Marriott merger
Q : What will happen to my Lifetime Status when the programs merge together in the future?
A : Rest assured we will always recognize your Lifetime Status, whether it is today in your earned program or in the future with a new, combined program.

Of course, a few of those stays I actually had to 'lobby' for my earned, standard, basic Platinum accoutrements (internet, breakfast, lounge access etc). Perhaps that is the issue in the end...
As it thas been explained here many times, LT doesn't give you any additional benefits in comparison to year by year status. To me, it's designed to accomodate retirees or people who stopped travelling for business for them to enjoy status further. I am very happy as my career very likely may limit my business travel to 1 or 2 weeks a year at some point. LT may be a tiebreaker if two Plats (or Golds) are vying for a pre-upgrade (if really staff trained well).

If I end this year with 25 stays (2 of which were from SPG Amex), will this count as a year towards Plat Lifetime status? Or do I need to get 25 stays above the SPG Amex stays (27 total stays) to have the year count?

What a weired idea. What has a platinum status to do with business travel? I have been a platinum for many years but I hardly ever travel for work!

I'm pretty sure that William answered earlier in this thread that earned PLT is earned PLT, even if it includes cc, promo, etc., credits. Those nights/stays just wont count toward your lifetime credit.

So you can start the year with 300 LT nights, earn PLT with 23 stays/23 nights (actual), which will show as 25 stays/28 nights, and end up with 323 LT nights (iirc, the cc earns 5 nights), but one additional year at PLT for LT status.

In my case, almost all of them. I'm not exaggerating. Most of them have never seen a Lifetime Platinum card, and I have to explain what it is. The final straw for me was the Springfield MA Sheraton Monarch, where the front desk agent saw my card, and said "oooh, that must be a really old card, what is it?". I didn't get an upgrade, and she botched my simple check-in request to send up all-feather pillows.

Since becoming LTP I had only one agent mention it. It was in Hong Kong and they were excited about it and asked about the card. Since I still haven't gotten the card, I said I haven't even seen one!

In the end, I am just glad to pair my LTP with American LTP for the future when I don't travel as much.

Good for you! But 90% of Plats (though will be no confirmation from SPG) are business. Getting Plat for your own $$ -- that's weird.

You should be happy to have made it out of Springfield in one piece.. The town has seen better days. When you go into town the billboard are of strip clubs. That's a sign..

The next town over (15min away) Hampton and Amherst are much nicer/safer.

My apologies for your experiences. It would really be nice, even appropriate, if they offered some additional recognition of the accomplishment, so I'll pass it along.

Yes please do this. I also have had no recognition of any type of my LTP status.

Seems BAU.

Lurker:
Could you suggest that either Starwood agree to give ample notice (sort of like cat changes, but 6 months as AA & Marriott has done;a year would be even better) if any changes to the Lifetime requirements are done?

I don't anticipates changes happening, but if you work your way toward the status, you want to know how its earned doesn't change when you are about there... AA did some changes last yr but everything is based on miles (and people got grandfathered). Marriott is making changes how its earned and already announced it..

Marriott has a semi-published lifetime program. They have announced that changes will be made at the beginning of the year and that it will become published then, but there has been no information released regarding the nature of the changes, let along the specifics, only a suggestion that we will like it.
