When I had them, I used every one to great effect and never worried about losing them. I've missed not having them this year, and will be very happy when this weekend's stay puts me back up to the 50 night level.

The first benefit to go...

...is my prediction post-merger. I COULD see 4pm late check-out becoming more of a standard, but I highly doubt Marriott will want to start seeing lots of suites sucked up by Plats going forward.

Just curious. What type of suite did they upgrade you to, and what types of suites are in the upgrade pool at the St. Regis New York?

As you alluded to in your post, this might be one of the most value driven properties to use it at.

Always lowest category suite selected?

So applied these for all of our current trip hotel stays. Although each has cleared so far it has always been to the lowest category of all the suites selected:

Le Meridien Phuket - got Junior Suite (hardly a suite at all)

Royal Orchid Sheraton - got Junior Suite (higher category suite that SNAs are good for and that I selected still book able for $)

Westin Singapore - still awaiting more than 5 days out still

Starting to think these are pretty useless. Do the hotels get $ for these from SPG? Pretty disappointed in the use of these so far this year.

I will again reiterate SPG needs to change the expiry date to match status expiry (end of Feb). With so many people travelling around New Year, I can't be the only one who saves up SNAs for end of December use? I now have 4 useless SNAs that I loved to use before on almost as important stays.

I don't think we'll have to worry about these at all in a couple years...

That is unfortunate, I did have three that I was never able to get a confirmed upgrade....

Good results on my current trip (100%)

Westin LAX - "junior suite" which was a one BR. 1 night
Sheraton Mendoza - this may have also been called a junior suite, which was a one BR. 3 nights
W Santiago - beautiful suite - forgot which name designation it had. 3 nights
Sheraton (Maria Isabel) - Mexico City - "junior suite" which is a full 1 BR. 3 nights.

Agreed. I also lost 3.

Ha. Logged in today to apply two to a stay in January and saw they were gone. I had 8 left. 2 successfully went through on over 20 attempts.

Still haven't made a selection for the benefit for 2016. Really tempted to go with something that actually works, but have a hard time doing it because the value of them is so much higher (if they actually worked). Dilemmas.

TIL: You can't use SNAs on group rates. Have 7 nights in Maui next month for a medical conference and couldn't apply SNAs. The agent put a note on res. to request upgrade though.

Seems there's no small amount of frustration here. Though, in reality changes seem a bit of a fantasy, this year will be the year of status quo at best, and a complete gutting of our benefits at worst.

Had 5 SNAs expire in 2015. Guess I should start trying to burn them at the beginning of the year. In one case, I did get an upgrade anyway, but in all others, I received a base room, not even a basic upgrade.

Would rather have 5 nights that I could apply at booking or something similar to Hyatt's DSUs (which still aren't perfect).

Had 3 SNAs expire at end of 2015.

It was simply impossible to use them.

Bit of a waste and questions why I bother giving so much business to SPG (127 nights in 2015) when they were not willing to make an exception for a high revenue customer.

In 2016, I'll requalify for SGP Plat, but doubt it's worthwhile aiming for 50/75/100 (certainly not 100 - Ambassador scheme just not worth it).

Last year I was able to burn all 10 SNAs, but only with some tricks I think...
