How to check my SPG status?
How do I check my current SPG membership tier status? ie, I couldn't find it anywhere in the site after I login. It only says "Preferred Guest - Your progress to Platinum : (0) stays to go this year / (0) nights to go this year"
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

The website has been jacked up since Sunday. I think most people's say 0 stays towards Plat, but it's not accurate. Really surprised it hasn't been fixed yet 3 days in.

(The "today" in that thread refers to Sunday, Jan 15, as well as days since. That's how long it's been going on, and that's how long people here have been discussing it!)
Did you really think you were the very first SPG FTer to notice this?

No, but it does say "Preferred", which is the entry level into the program. Regular is not a level of membership in SPG.
That part is a glitch. It was reported from information gathered here on Monday and an incident ticket created to institute and schedule a fix for it. I'm sure that if all it took was a couple of mouse-clicks, it might already be fixed, so it appears to be a bit more involved than that.

And how can I be (0) stays to go this year to reach Platinum? Last year I was only a Regular SPG though I did stay often at starwood properties last year.

Mine has said 22 to Platinum for a few days. I had 3 stays last week and it's accurately reported 24, 23, 22 as they were posted.

what tier status you are is listed directly beside your name as soon as you log in.
it kinda blends in with the background, so I had trouble finding it as well. mine said the same as yours, until I finally noticed that at the top of the page.

I have looked closely again and still couldn't find it anywhere in my account page whether I am regular or gold ( can't be platinum ). Anyway, doesn't matter. Just thought SPG webpage should make it more clear. Thanks.

No I don't. This is not a forum I usually visit, just to post the question after I search and not turn up anything.

mine does kind of blend in and I noticed the same thing as you; but finally was able to locate the tier status (right upper corner, beside name and above the point total). hope that helps.

Look again, still can't find it. Maybe different regions have different login screen. But I would guess the word "Preferred Guest" will just refer to regular SPG, not gold or platinium. In 2011, I recalled I was short of SPG Gold by one night.

Waste of Time
I've just checked my status online and have been downgraded from Gold to Preferred but I don't know if this is as a result of a glitch on the site or if I should be worried.
So I had an online chat with a Starwoods rep and told her that my Gold status was due to spending on my SPG AmEx and she informed me that she couldn't assist me because she didn't have access to my spending details, so I would have to contact AmEx.
I then telephoned AmEx who were mystified by the downgrade, as my spending more than qualified for my Gold status to be renewed without issue. She telephoned Starwoods on my behalf and was told that the only way to have Gold status was through making the minimum stay quota. She checked with her manager who told her this was incorrect and we both checked the SPG site and clicked through to the AmEx site which clearly states: "Automatic upgrade to SPG Gold Preferred status when you spend £15,000 in purchases on your Card each year". She raised an enquiry about this and advised that I should contact Starwoods.
When I telephoned Starwoods they put me through to a supervisor who stated that Gold via spending needed to be using a Platinum or Centurion card (I thought the Platinum card applied only to US residents?). She referred me to AmEx.
All in all I've wasted over an hour on various holds and am none the wiser. I'm very disappointed in the responses and being passed back and forth.
I'd be grateful if anyone knows what I should do.
