Do points and dollars stays count?

I know award stays now count toward SPG elite. One would think that points + dollar stays would also count, but I have found at least a couple of hotels where they don't. Is this the exception or the norm?

Policy is that C&P (cash and points) counts. Period.

According to SPG, as of Oct 1st, 2011, all award stays, points and cash & points, now count towards status. If it's the property saying no, then contact SPG. If it's just the stays not posting, again contact SPG and have the posting corrected.

Given the year just rolled over, I wouldn't bother contacting SPG unless the stays will change your status.

If it wasn't for the Platinum Amenity posting, I wouldn't know if the point stay had posted. It would be great if IT could do a memo post of zero points to show the stay has been processed.

And the official citation from the terms (4B.3.)
" If you do not pay an Eligible Rate or do not redeem a Free Night Award or a Cash & Points Award (for stays from October 1, 2011, onward), your stay is not an Eligible Stay and will not count towards the Gold Minimum Requirement or the Platinum Minimum Requirement, even if you earn Starpoints on Eligible Charges during that stay."

No, only double points when using an SPG Amex.

Is this specified in t&c? Sorry I checked the link above, but must have missed it.
