It did not work in IE for me, nor on my iPad. When I registered in Firefox, it worked fine.

Congratulations — you're now registered to earn bonus Rapid Rewards Points.
You're now eligible to earn 1,000 bonus Rapid Rewards® Points per stay at Sheraton®, Four Points®, AloftSM and ElementSM hotels and resorts across North America.

do you have to book the hotel through the Southwest site or can you book at spg.com like i normally do?

also reservations booked before 8/1 but are in the future will they get the 1000 RR points?

Starwood Lurker, I spoke to with SPG via Online Chat, and she stated I do not have a duplicate account. She then stated that she had a supervisor register me; however, how would they know my Southwest Rapid Rewards number?

Lurkers - can you please clarify on below

E.g - For a room at Sheraton for 1 night stay @100/night in the promotion period

1) will I earn 300 *points (200 base + 100 Plat 50% bonus) & 1000 RR points ?
OR
2) will I earn 200 *points (200 base + 0 ie NO Plat 50% bonus) & 1000 RR points ?

If ans is 2, is there a way I can unregister from this promotion?

I'm thinking if you were able to successfully register, then you will get the bonus. Let us all know how it turns out.

They would not unless the Rapid Rewards number is already noted on your account.

I'm not so sure what is so difficult about this, but you would get everything that you would have gotten before you registered plus some points from Southwest, so #1.

If you still want to unregister, call up the Customer Contact Center and have them take it off your account.

:)

Thanks as always for clarifying...

I didnt want to lose any earning opp for *points, hence the query... I am good and will continue with double dip...

Really nice promotion, but personally wouldn't be able to make most of it, since most of my stays are in Westins & Ws..

Yeah, that's what I thought. I think that's very poor that she would LIE and tell me that her "supervisor" registered me for this promotion without even knowing my Rapid Rewards number. I may have to actually call instead of use the SPG Online Chat...

You might want to call just to see if it really is on your account. You can be registered without it, but if the Rapid Rewards number is missing, SPG isn't going to know where to send the points.

Thank you, William. Just for fun, I tried the link one more time today, and it registered me this time, so I think we're in good shape now.

If I'm not mistaken, earning miles with this promo is very simple:

1) Register (providing your SPG and WN numbers)
2) Stay at an SPG hotel (booked through SPG.com) through Dec 15, 2011

Maybe what's confusing is that it's unlike some other hotel chain's mile promos where you need to change your earnings preference to miles, or give you mileage number at checkout. And here you don't have to give up any points to get the miles. In other words, it's confusing because its so simple.

though 600 southwest pts vs 300 SPGpts (based on $100 rate)....I'd say southwest wins.

Triple dip?

I just regiustered for this SPG/Southwest Rapid Reward promo. If I book the hotel via this Delta Skymile link:

http://www.starwoodpromos.com/skymil...WI_SH_NAD_BT40

Will I get both 1000 Repid Reward points and 1000 delta skymiles? It will still count as a stay credit, right?

I don't see why this would be triple dipping.

Per the T&Cs at the link above, your account has to be set to automatic direct deposit to Delta for the Delta promo to work. That means you can't earn SPG points on these stays (though you do earn stay credit). So you're just choosing a different type of double dip.

As to whether you'll get both bonuses, I don't know if we'll know conclusively until someone tries and reports back. But given that the Southwest bonus may not post until after the promo is over, that won't help you (or anyone) much unless this kind of promo is repeated sometime.
