Thanks.

BTW, what is the function of the checkbox for MAGC during the reservation process? I can see that it might help the hotel to properly schedule housekeeping staff, but from the guest's perspective, does one want to commit in advance?

The original/current door hangtag system allows one to decide late in the evening, day by day, whether the room would benefit much by housekeeping service the next morning. I can easily imagine wanting to change one's mind about MAGC days after arrival, for instance if eating in the room makes a mess, if the weather, social activities, or gym/pool use require additional showers, or even if one finds fewer towels than expected in the room.

If you check the box (or fail to check the box) when making the reservation, can you change your mind? Is this something that must be announced/confirmed at check in?

It is merely a convenience factor for both the property and the guest. If a guest changes their mind after checking in, the guest has only to make their wishes known to the front desk.

It's still there on the hotel's website. To further quote the page:

"It feels good to conserve. Make a Green Choice at the Element Fargo."

It was reported. I was told it would be looked into. After that, I have little control over how long it might take to take down.

But, I have confirmed that it can no longer be added during the reservation process.

I stayed at an aLoft recently, told front desk I wanted MAGC. I had no MAGC card in the room, so I hung the DND placard, and notified front desk by phone that I had no MAGC card. Front desk person confirmed she'd note my room as MAGC.

On email receipt of Folio, I received no points. I called hotel, and person who answered was very nice, and said points would be credited. This was two days ago.

How long should it take for the points to post? Thanks.

It can take as long as 10 business days if the points were processed through email request from the hotel to Program Services.

If the property processed them using their in-house system, we allow 7 days. After that, you can contact customer service and ask them to follow up or send us your account number and we'll take care of it personally.

I'm now at the Four Points Penang. asked about MAGC at check-in a couple of days ago and they said they do not offer it here, thought it's just a hotel-specific decision.

but just now saw a UNICEF small leaflet in the room and talked about 250 points for MAGC...was wondering whether the check-in agent wasn't sure what I was talking about...so called front desk again to make sure. they said MAGC has been stopped worldwide and so they don't do it anymore. has this indeed been cancelled worldwide? for Four Points? thanks

Most of the time the MAGC points post the next day with the other points, however my last two stays did not post. The Platinum concierge followed up mad said, as William indicated above, that it would take up to 10 days. Still have a few days to wait.

I hope this is just a front desk agent making up stuff.

No, just a clueless agent.

There's clueless and then there's complete fabrication, aka lying, where the best explanation is that the agent was too lazy to check and perhaps learn something about their job.

I've stayed at this hotel last year, and they do participate in MAGC. It could be a clueless agent. It's confusing this one because I had great service from the front desk when I was there.

They don't. Both Four Points Penang and the Andaman Langkawi used to participate, but no longer do (I stayed at both a month ago).

Any idea whether we are eligible to earn Starpoints for participation in the MAGC program where the underlying booking will be paid by a Master Account?

Whether or not the hotel participates might be the determining factor. What hotel?
