Spent four nights here over Easter, mini-review:
The location of the hotel is amazing, right next to the best sights in St. Petersburg and also on a fairly quiet small street. The overall feel is new and fresh. The staff were ok and cool as typical for W, but a few small improvements should be put in place (checking out took ten minutes, the front desk wasn't 100% attentive). On the other hand this is Russia, so what can you expect...
Platinum, so upgraded, but not to a suite, only a Mega room. Good size and well layed out room. Breakfasts were good with all the food set up in a pretty way and the French toast on order being especially good.
The highlight was the newly opened hotel restaurant, Cococo. The dinner we had there was amazing - fine dining Russian style. The service again was a bit lacking, but the food was so good it's the only thing I really want to remember.
Overall, good stay and the location really is superb. Also try the Four Seasons bar&restaurants next door - high-quality stuff

Had a fantastic stay in June for 5 (of course nights) .
Both Plat families (us and friends) were upgraded to W Suites each -- very nice for 2 adults and 2 smaller kids.
Plat recognition is very high -- though breakfast was called "continental", it had a half dozen of hot options (for all 4 as a Plat amenity), fruites, candies for kids and a bottle of nice Italian wine for papa and mama.

1. hotel has only one restaurant whch is managed by third party, food is good, you even can book the table for the breakfast (which is untill 12 on sundays - nice touch), but if you decide to get bill settled to your room you will need to pay extra 5%, + restaurant is small and normally overbooked on weekends, so no way you can sit there without reservation, which I didn't have obviously arriving friday evening - this only leave you with the room service or eat outside
2. on Fridays, sometimes Saturdays hotel is hosting DJ nights... during June - end of September they normally playing at the roof top terrace which is great if you not sleppin under it with open window, but all other times the hotel Lobby area is transformed in to the night club ;-)) with face control and bodyguards, so no way you can invite your friends for the evening cocktail during on Friday or Saturday night after midninght
3. Mpre about music from the Lobby - this night we needed to sleep because of our job early on Saturday, but music from the downstairs can be clearly heard in our room, which was on the 5th floor... I'm really sorry for the people who stayed on 2nd and 3rd floor above the Lobby...
4. TV in the room is outdated - hotel was open 7 years ago and TVs are still the same (this goes to IPod docking station as wel) - 7 years, cooomoon!!! ... I only was trying to watch the movie from my phone or USB Flash card
5. I contacted concierge day before arrival - sent the confirmation of the order I made which should be delivered to the hotel during my flight to St. Petersburg - concierge confirmed that they contacted courier and will be checking the parcell - on Friday evening when I arrived there was no parcel and it was too late to call the delivery company and concierge of course simply forgot about my request....

I had a great stay here in September, four nights upgraded to a Fantastic Suite using SNAs. Large, comfortable room with a bath and a half, two step-out balconies with a view of St. Isaac's, and a comfortable king bed. Bottles of water replenished daily, and housekeeping did a good job.
I took the breakfast as my amenity, which was really solid and served in Cococo. They make all the coffees to order, so it always took a few minutes to get another one - I would have been happy with a small carafe or brewed coffee. I also had dinner at Cococo one night and enjoyed it - its clearly popular with the local crowd and was packed on Saturday night. Prices were high for Russia, but given the value of the ruble, I found the restaurant (and indeed the whole cite) to be good value.
F+B is also served in the Living Room (lobby), which was a fairly dead scene, as well as the terrace on the roof. I charged F+B from all three outlets to my room, however the bill at Cococo didn't result in SPG points in my account - which I believe it should have. I haven't bothered following up.
The gym and sauna/steam/pool are open to all hotel guests. Gym is small, but with decent equipment.
The location is amazing. There are a hundred great sites to see in St. Petersburg, but my favourite was probably the interior of St. Isaac's. Do yourself a favour at every ticketing line and get your tickets from the automatic kiosks, rather than lining up. If you're going to the Hermitage (Winter Palace location), buy your tickets at the Hermitage (General Staff Quarters) across Palace Square - no lines there at all, and once you have a ticket there's a separate line just to the left of the Winter Palace ticketing line. I didn't wait more than a minute to get in.
All in all, a very good hotel in a city I really enjoyed. As mentioned, the location is outstanding. I'll definitely be back, and would recommend the W to anyone.

I'm not sure if this is dealt with property-by-property, but I had a Cash and Points reservation at the Hotel Kamp in Helsinki, booked for a date after the hotel's departure from SPG. This was back in 2016 and pre-merger, but I received the following message from "SPG Participation":
Dear makin'miles,
As a valued Starwood Preferred Guest member, we are writing to inform you of a change in the status of Hotel Kmp, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Helsinki. As of February 29, 2016 the property was no longer part of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide or Luxury Collection and no longer participates in the Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) program.
We see you are currently holding a reservation, confirmation number XXXXXXXXX arriving on XX August 2016 and departing on XX August 2016. We are pleased to inform you that the hotel will honor your reservation for a Preferred (free) Night Award, including Cash and Points, as your stay was originally confirmed. However, since the hotel will no longer be affiliated with the Starwood system, you will not earn Starpoints for any eligible charges incurred, nor will you receive any of your Starwood Preferred Guest membership amenities or benefits. We realize this may be disappointing but hope we can count on your understanding.
Should you need assistance, and wish to connect with a member of our Customer Service team, you may email us at [email protected]
We appreciate your continued patronage of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide and we apologize for this unforeseen change and any inconvenience it may cause for you. We look forward to welcoming you to a Starwood Preferred Guest participating property in the near future.
Sincerely,

If any one has gotten a reach out from SPG in regards to a similar reservation at the W St. Petersburg then can you share that just so I can know when they are officially emailing the reservation holders. I am in the same predicament as Avja, as I am sure many other people are, as I was able to book the cash and points rate recently on Jan 18th. I have not received any notice officially but have done as the Lurker suggested. The problem is that reservations that time of year are slim pickings. Many hotels ideally located are showing sold out or almost. I bet you I am missing some jewels but I stopped thinking about it after I booked 2 rooms at the the W. As a platinum the potential for upgrade and the breakfast sealed the deal. But, alas, that seems to have now gone away. I am assuming the actual too reservation will hold.

Has anyone heard whats to become of this property after it deflags from W?
Its actually pretty rare IME for a W to deflag, actually. The last Ws I can remember leaving SPG were the W Tuscany and Court properties in NYC in 2010!
