This is covered in the T&C's of the offer:

...Free Resort Night Awards are not transferable, even among members of the same household, and may not be given as a gift. However, a member may use two or more Free Resort Night Awards on the same night for additional rooms as long as all rooms are under the member's name and the member stays in one of the rooms and pays for all the rooms...

So basically where before the 3 night a week business traveler would get triple points on 9 nights over 3 weeks (enough for one room anywhere at tier 5), we now get one night, that can only be used at a resort (hello fees!) and can only be used until December. Wow.

Yes, that was my BURNING question too.

Hmmm so looks like I have booked in a DEAD ZONE for promos

Looks like a good promo for May, but what about the April dead zone please??

I always wind up having 2 or 3 stays during the 2 week dead zone. Last year there was a 1000 point / stay bonus for FT members. Would have been nice to get that this year too.

yawn

but if it works for You then ^ , but there were only a couple of places that I could see going to and then what if its not avaialble for the dates that work for me, in the past it was much easier for me since if XX wasnt available then Id go to YY, even thou it was Weekends only

of cause as others have posted if I have to pay the ridiculious Resort Fee its anything but free. So unless the *W property is the cheapest where I will be, looks like I wont be doing the 18 Stays I was planning on. Definitely not worth it to me to do Mattress Runs for this , it did in the past yrs

OK now that Q2 is out of the bag, yep its Time to speculate on Q3

Looking at the list of resorts just now. Being Europe-based kinda limited choice, so probably not the best promo ever given my travel schedules/possibilities.

Nonetheless, very happy to get it & have a little go. Should be able to score 2 or 3 free nights, and then figure out whether I can fit in a little trip.

Thanks spg !

With the recent trajectory, my guess for Q3 would be "Four stays and get a free breakfast! (thru November only, void on breakfast entrees over $11)".

I think this is a great opportunity to compile a list of resorts and the resort fees charged by each property. (We would need a universal currency to be able to compare apples to apples.) I'd be willing to work on such a list if one doesn't already exist. William?

However my IT skills are such that I wouldn't know where to put the spreadsheet so it would be accessible to everyone.

Anyone interested in doing this? I'm willing to help. It will then be crystal clear as to which properties are the worst offenders for gouging their guests.

The resort lists appear to be live now, but the page won't format properly on the iPad. Would someone be so kind as to post the various region lists up?
